Shannon Sharpe seems to believe Tony Romo was about to say N-word during AFC Championship broadcast

Quote:
During the fourth quarter, Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco was about to be tackled after a short gain, but managed to bounce off three converging Bengals defenders, turning a short pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes into a huge play. Romo was predictably enthused as CBS showed the replay, but he stopped himself and made an abrupt pivot during his analysis, leaving social media to speculate on what he almost said.

ā€œThe extra yards. The tough yards. The finish on the play,ā€ Romo said passionately. ā€œRight there you got three niā€¦Talked about this. The best tackling team. They donā€™t miss tackles. And that could be the difference.ā€

Quote:
ā€œItā€™s [TV]. You get hyped and forget sometimes where you are,ā€ Sharpe tweeted.

Romo definitely gets hyped and there are certainly times where it seems like he may have forgotten that heā€™s speaking to a national audience, but Iā€™d like to believe the N-word is nowhere near his vocabulary regardless of whether heā€™s on or off TV. But Iā€™m also struggling to figure out where Romo was going with his analysis when he stopped himself abruptly

It may have been a slip of the lip. I don't see bigotry in Tony's personality.

Ok. Yeah, I don't really hear alot of debate in the NBA. Seems pretty unanimous that MJ is the GOAT.

I'll believe it when he makes it through an entire season without un-retiring.

I have a feeling this is it. A commentator thought someone in Tom's inner circle caused him to understand he couldn't be HIM anymore. THE Tom was done.

Another surmised Tom was through because he was exhausted. He didn't think Brady had the energy to do the work anymore. He doesn't think he has the enthusiasm.

I'd be surprised if he unretired again. Let's see how he does in the booth. Mike Francesa and Chris 'Mad Dog' Russo don't think he'll make a good analyst.

Irony; it's 1 year to the day he retired the first time. Is this really it? STAY TUNED

Iā€™m taking them. Doesnā€™t mean much as I have been wrong all postseason. Mahomes just seems like ā€œthat guyā€

I'm riding with Mahomes. Eagles allow around 5 yards per carry. If his ankle is near OK he'll be able to use his legs. He's also shown he can pass from the pocket. I think Hurts will have the SB jitters, Patrick's been there, done that. Having inked that, I won't bet the condo.

Wonder if he put some feelers out there before he decided to call it a day. I know after this year the cold hard reality of the NFL life reared its head when he realized he didn't have the form he used to have and at 45 he didn't have to suffer thru the pain anymore.

At the end of the day (a phrase you will hear in just about every post-game player interview) TB must have gotten a reality-check and realized he's never going to the Super Bowl again, nor does he need to. He'll have a long career as a sports talk guy.

Brady looks like he's aged significantly over the past year. It's probably a good thing that he's hanging it up. His play looked like it had slipped as well, though he wasn't a joke at the end like Peyton Manning was, or even guys like Roethlisberger and Matt Ryan who were complete noodle-arms at the end. Brady still had pretty good arm strength this year and was still a better-than-average starter, but it was pretty obvious that he didn't want to get hit at all. He really shied away from contact this year. Hey, I don't blame him.

I think one of the reasons Tom Terrific had a bad year was his divorce. His mind wasn't 100% on the game. That's also a reason I think he's done with the game. I'm probably rowing this canoe alone but I'd like to see him reunite with his family. I know Gisele has supposedly moved on but 13 years has to mean something. Get on a knee Tom.

You might be right, but he's one of the least interesting sport personalities, especially when taking into account his overall prominence.

When you see one post-game interview by Brady, you've seen them all.

Let's hope he becomes more engaging, more dynamic in his presentation, which he then combine with his obvious enormous knowledge of the game.

That contract with FOX probably has some outs. I could see a scenario like NBC where they cut ties with Drew Brees when it didn't work out.

Relating to Brady, I think the same thing. 10 years is a long time to be tied down. Does HE want to be? I think HE may have some outs in the contract.

It's my understanding in order to be a good analyst many hours of preparation are required. People like SAS and, like him or not Skip Bayless live, eat and sleep the occupation. Is Tom ready to do that?

I'm not sure of the date of this article. I hope it's current.

Tom Brady seeks to win back Gisele BĆ¼ndchen's love with retirement announcement, reports say

I am curious as to what his role will be.

If it is as a game analyst, I am surprised as that would be a lot of traveling and you would think he was over that.

If as a studio host, that means LA most likely with Fox so perhaps he becomes a local.

Either way, I kind of like the route the Manning Brothers have taken better. Be funny, do commercials, control your content.

Tell TB12 to call me, I will even hook him up with an annuity.

Maybe he'll be an in studio analyst. I also have my doubts about it working out. My man is like a robot. Unless he's been keeping his personality under wraps all these years I can't imagine it being entertaining.

After having watched the guy on a few events like golf where he is micā€™ed up, heā€™s pretty low personality. Not completely dull, just, meh. They usually bring jocks in to studio jobs for the spark and leave the straight man stuff got the career journalists. So, if he does broadcasting, itā€™d have to be in the booth on a game by game basis. But there arenā€™t many guys who pull that off without a big personality. Troy Aikman is about the only one I can think of. Brady is definitely no Collingsworth or Romo.
