But they have to renounce Rui for $30m cap. Renounce everyone except AD/Bron for $35m cap.
Is Kyrie willing to take $30-35m to sign here and pretty much gut the team even more? |
"Is Kyrie willing" might not be a relevant question. He has to weigh what other offers are even going to be out there. Does Dallas pay him $50m a year? I think even without his antics, at this point he's not worth $50m per year going forward.
So far, Kyrie's always chosen the money. |

For the “but he apologized” crowd, pretty sure Kyrie deleted said apology today |

Look at the package he got for him from Dallas, and then look at what he was asking the Lakers. He turned down what the Suns offered and what the Lakers offered and took the Mavs offer which was the worst of the three.
This was about not sending Kyrie to a team he wanted to go and ultimately sent him to Dallas.
Now if Kyrie leaves Dallas in the off-season that's another story. |
To be fair, it’s been speculated that Tsai didn’t want to send Kyrie to the Lakers, but no one knows if that actually influenced the Nets actions. People will debate which offer was better, and not everyone would agree our offer was better than the Maverick's.
And the Mavericks were on the Kyrie’s list of preferred teams at the start of the season, so it’s not like he was sent to Siberia. |

I wonder how Mavericks fans feel after today's press conference. Oh, well, not our problem. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved |

Hmm let’s see: 2 FRPs + Russ who is absolutely useless and just a way to shed cap.
Spence can be flipped for a first rounder so can Finney Smith as his value is crazy high around the league + the picks.
From what I can see the Mavs offer blew ours out of the water unless you think Westbrook is good? |

He overcame much more than whatever he’s doing now. Don’t think so - if anything he’s on his way to sign another max.
And even if he’s out of the league..hell of a career. I think he’s fine. |

Kyrie’s own words
"I just know I want to be places where I'm celebrated and not just tolerated or just kind of dealt with in a way that doesn't make me feel respected,"
IMHO - Move On from a player that wants to be celebrated for winning one playoff game since he has been with the Nets and only been available for a limited amount of games for reasons that a professional basketball player/superstar would have avoided
Glad that the Mavs bought a PT Superstar who is hoping that his Uber talents will make people his countless failures while getting him $200M
If the financial circumstances of the Westbrook contract was disturbing, imaging having a $200M dead weight + all the drama outside the basketball court |

I'd put it at likely a 1% chance that Kyrie makes it to the Lakers now, but I don't think it's shut just yet. There could be a dual S&T this offseason similar to how the Warriors traded for D'Angelo Russell when Kevin Durant left them. _________________

And even though it didn’t happen at the trade deadline, @joevardon isn’t ruling out Kyrie to the Lakers this offseason.

I agree w/this.
$200M+ max offer no squabbling over details and Kyrie stays a Mav. |

All these writers who predicted Kyrie being a Laker in Summer 2022
Then they said Kyrie was no doubt a Laker at the deadline.
Same folks now saying Kyrie will be a Laker in Summer 2023?
Just give it up. I don't want to chase him anymore and/or pay 2 FRPs for him. Last summer I would have considered, but not after what has happened. Thankfully he wants that 4 year max ($200m plus) and the Lakers can't give him that. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Friendly reminder that signing Kyrie this summer also entails not bringing back any of our decent role players, and forces us to assemble a brand new roster full of vet min guys. |

Let him come for the MLE. If Pelinka repeats the Russ mistake with Irving then we wasted a FRP for nothing. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

I have a hard time the Mavs are going to lock in Kyrie for 4/200 and have basically nothing else for the Luka era. That's not good enough imo, even if Kyrie woke up today with no more behavioral issues. |

4 years, $200 million for that fool? No thanks.
