How so? They play nothing alike.
Parker is an excellent shooter, scorer, a good, but not great athlete, and questionable defender.
Wallace was an incredible athlete coming out, but limited offensively and solid defensively.
I suppose that they both played with great energy, but that is where the comparison ends. |

I'm convinced Parker is the better pick in the draft. most polished among the prospects. _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups. How would you compare a Gorgui Dieng to a Cauley-Stein, Austin, and Bachsynki? |

I love Gorgui. I really want the Lakers to get him somehow.
But he is more raw than Cauley-Stein. _________________ Kobe |

Gorgui can shoot the mid-range though.
He played really well the other night. If he becomes a 12/12/3 player that can cut off the P and R, while hitting the mid-range you've got a very good C for new era basketball.
I like Austin of Baylor if he could put on about 15 more pounds of muscle. Poor man's Chandler with a jump shot. |

I think I agree. I also think Randle has shown he's NBA ready as well. Strong moves in the post in that Witchita State game. |

The guy who is like Chandler is Cauley-Stein. He moves exactly like him, lobs just like him, plays just like him. If he works on Chandler's signature "tap out rebound", he'll be great. _________________ Kobe |

His mobility was impressive. His offense is really raw, but defensively, I see the potential. If we fall out of the top 6, might be worth considering though this isn't a sexy pick by any means. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Maybe because he's turning 23 in a month? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

NBADraft.net has Early with 13th pick and DraftExpress has him at 30.
His outside shot looks solid and runs the court well. He would at least be a stretch 4 and he had big game when the pressure was on.
If a player is strictly based on age, Gordon should rated higher, there are HS seniors old as he is. _________________ Started posting on Lakersground when it was lakers/rivals.com since Aug.2000. |

20lbs. light.
Straight-line ball-handling.
Above average athlete.
Average jumpshot.
There are 2nd round picks that are more dynamic at one or both ends of the floor. Early being on fire with his contested jumpshots made him look like Pippen without the playmaking. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

His offensive game might be but his defense is terrible. With a pick as high as the Lakers will have, you gotta find a guy with at least the potential to be a two-way player.
Personally I'd take Randle. It's weird but Calipari doesn't really showcase everything that he can do well. Coming out of highschool Randle was actually known to have a pretty good jump shot but Kentucky doesn't put him in position to use it very often. While he's not a great defender, he at least has the skills to become a good defender. |

Because he turns 25 in June. He's a grown man playing with boys. |

I think Early's biggest issue is simply position. He doesn't pass the ball or handle the ball, and most of his shots are set-ups. Hell, his shot selection and style of offense screams early Antawn Jamison--wants to score, everything is set up. And if he has positional issues, that might compromise his defense.
Does anyone think Joey Graham here? Another lottery pick who went to hell. Joey shot 47.3% from three and 88% from the line the year he came into the draft. I have metrics that absolutely hate Early, and he's not quite passing the eye test for me either. I think he's Graham. |

Not different from Jimmy Butler.
Spot up jumpers.
Defense.

Butler had assist rates of 0.18, 0.18 and 0.19 in his three years in college, and assist/TO rates of around 1.5-1.7. That's easily in NBA two-guard territory.
Early's assist rates? 0.05 and 0.05, with assist/TO rates of 0.37, 0.38. That's well embedded into NBA center territory.
I'm not saying that Anthony can't work around his inability to pass and play an effective all-around spot-up game with defense, but this is currently my biggest gripe. Butler also has a huge Marquette fudge factor that has produced overachievers like Wes Matthews and Dwyane Wade in their program. Wichita State...eh. It's more like a halo at this point. |

Turnover prone, very spotty track record of hitting jumpers in general. Defensive issues for the next level. And most of all, age. |

He's just far better at blocking shots than he is at playing actual defense, and he's an awful rebounder. Not that good a finisher either. Turnover prone for someone who's often set up. He's not very refined on either end. And he's old. |

I have visions of him as a possible Dennis Johnson. |
He's a good popcorn scorer/defender off someone's bench. Will need to be crossmatched, as he's not a PG, or he can fit in the two or even three-guard lineups that seem to be all the rage today. Dude is short but a top notch finisher/dunk, and has also improved his jumper significantly. Good shotblocker/defender. He'd be great next to a MCW or a Shaun Livingston, but he's smart and resourceful enough to plug himself into other lineups. Will be an underrated NBA player. |
