It seems as if the consensus top 3 is some form of Okafor, Towns and Russell. Mudiay and WCS come up in a lot of threads, but point blank...LA has the pick and you're taking one of them. That or give your reason for drafting someone else at the #4 pick (no trade down scenarios please).
Too many uncertainties right now with Mudiay being MIA for so long and WCS' sickle trait not yet evaluated by our team doctors. IF WCS is cleared I pick him but until then Mudiay gets my vote.
Well I have Hezonja over them both at the moment, so him. If I had to choose between those two though, I choose WCS.
He has a tough buyout, apparently $2m+. Lakers can only cough up around 500-600k. He'd have to eat some of that to get out. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

I'm going with Mudiay 100 out of 100 times and I'm not even really high on him.
Drafting a player like WCS in top 5 goes against everything I believe in.
IMO you should never draft a player with only role player potential so high in the draft.
MKG all over again.

KBCB, can you elaborate? of course without examining him you don't know the specifics, but what sort of risks are out there that may materialize if he continues playing ball? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

Maybe the problem is you thinking he only has role player potential? _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

Its pretty obvious he's DeAndre Jordan 2.0 at best.
So...nope, my thinking isn't the problem. He doesn't have more than a role player potential.
He's just like MKG. MKG should've been drafted 15th at best. And he was the youngest player in the draft. Samw goes for WCS IMO who happens to be one of the oldest players in the draft.

Is Tyson Chandler a role player? He's a championship player and a Gold Medalist.
DJ just had a 28point 20 rebound game without Blake Griffin. Sure, he's not really shot creating, but those aren't role player numbers.
But I guess guys like Byron Scott shouldn't be drafted in the lottery. After all, he was just a "role player".
Hell, Scottie Pippen out of Central Arkansas was a "role player." _________________ Resident Car Nut.
WCS like a clone of tyson chandler in terms of height/wingspan/hands/reach. way more tyson chandler than larry sanders or deandre jordan. he doesn't have their giant hands, reach or wingspan. he is def taller though.
i've warmed to him. as long as he doesn't pull a larry sanders or bynum and be mr. different/i-don't-really-like-basketball, and as long as his health issue isn't something that affects his play. he's worth the #5 or maybe even #4 pick imo, assuming okafor/towns are off the board

WCS will make the open 15-17 foot jumper, Chandler and Jordan don't have that. No doubt in my mind that he'll make that consistently, he's already starting to. the question is if you can develop him to make ISO'd high post jumpers.
And his synergy with Randle should be even better than the 2 lobs Blake throws Deandre every game..

unless my 7 footer is shooting dirk percentages on midrange shots, which is basically no 7 footer ever except for dirk, i'd rather have him at the rim. WCS has good enough defense that i'd be content with him never having a more advanced offensive game than a tyson chandler. i did see that jumper in the auburn game tho

At the least he'll be consistent on wide open looks soon enough. So he could space the floor(15feet) for Randle drives and make an open simple catch and shoot,or catch lobs when Randle draws the help big.
Between the two I would rather have Mudiay, but I have Stanley Johnson over both. A few reasons why he's ahead of them.
Size - 6'8 245 lbs as a SF and he's only 18
Defense - Can defend multiple positions
Great 3 Pt shooter
Good rebounder and passer
Has an alpha male mentality - I think he'll avg a consistent 23/8/4 in prime.
Always willing to learn, he's now working with Klay Thompson shooting coach. He'll learn a lot in a year playing alongside Kobe.
He has everything I would want in a cornerstone player going forward He's won everywhere he's gone, his game translates into wins. Similar to Wiggins with Kansas, I think Stanley will break the trend of past bust or role players from Arizona. He's a great talent and would be a great fit on the team. I think he's going to be a star.

Just as it was obvious after last year's NCAA season that Randle was a Randolph clone? Making assumptions of the roles that guys play in a highly successful college program isn't a good idea. And MKG can't shoot, that isn't the case with WCS. I would be thrilled if we got WCS and he turned out to be another Deandre Jordan. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

And neither Chandler or Jordan can guard PGs on the switch. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
