IMO at least five SBLakers deserve a limited shot w/ the big team.
Surely most of the minimum contract guys won't be back next season therefore
the FO should bring up a few South Bay Lakers to replace some of the washed up guys.

It won't make a big splash but at least the SoBay guys have continuity, they play team ball and defense.
The experience will also help to further develop the young guys.

After losing 10 road games in a row, we have nothing to lose.

I'd love to see this but it's not gonna happen with the current FO. They are missing the forest for the trees when it comes to player development and draft picks.

Sources: Free agent guard Darren Collison is joining the Los Angeles Lakers’ G League affiliate – South Bay Lakers (17-9) – in hopes of helping lead the No. 2 seed to a G League title as well as earning a call-up to an NBA team.

Darren Collison To Join South Bay Lakers

Quote:
Collison, 34, initially retired in the 2019 offseason but returned this year on a 10-day hardship contract with the Lakers. In 12.3 MPG across three games with Los Angeles, Collison looked rusty, to say the least. The 6’0″ guard averaged 1.3 PPG on 28.6% field goal shooting, plus 1.3 RPG and 0.7 APG.

He holds career averages of 12.5 PPG, 5.0 APG and 2.7 RPG in 711 career NBA games, with a .471/.394/.853 shooting line.

I’m watching the game against Texas and thinking they should have an in-game thread. Why are the Lakers playing guards at pf and Melo at center when you got big guys like Jay Huff dunking on people? Of course, I haven’t watched very long, but I’m pretty sure you can’t teach height.

This IS the in-game thread for every game. I'm always here but normally no one joins the fun.

Former NBA point guard Darren Collison is reportedly working his way back to the NBA. The 34-year-old, who last played for the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this season on a brief 10-day stint, has reportedly signed for LA’s NBA G League affiliate in the South Bay Lakers as he looks to try and get another shot at the big leagues.

South Bay Falls In Final Seconds To The Legends
Quote:
Despite a career night from seven-foot-one center Jay Huff, the South Bay Lakers (17-10), the G League affiliate of the Los Angeles Lakers, suffered a narrow home defeat to the Texas Legends (16-14), 113-112.
South Bay will return to the floor Friday night as they take on the Austin Spurs, the G League affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs, at 7:00 P.M. PT at the UCLA Health Training Center.

I don't follow the G League, but does Jay Huff have any NBA potential?

After finding Stanley Johnson and maybe Wenyen Gabriel to give us the young depth at forward we needed, it would be ever cooler if we developed a young center with legit center height.

Huff was called up by the Lakers in Nov. He held his own but didn't do anything noteworthy.
Huff is not a big rebounder but he will protect the paint (leads league in blocks 2.8 per). He has a decent offensive game with some upside because he can stretch the floor.
IMO with a little more development and experience Huff could become a reserve player.

Jay Huff : All Possessions (2021-11-06)

FYI: Mason Jones and Mac McClung are lighting it up in the G-League. IMO all three should have been given more opportunities with the Lakers.
Hopefully, if we can hang on to them, the Lakers may invite them to training camp for an audition.
