I'm not making much of it merely making a post for thought. However, I vaguely remember Biden saying he'd run for sure if Trump ran. IIRC he said he love it if Trump ran against him.

As An Aside; How much thought have you or any in the forum given to how much the MAGA attack on democracy in America affects democracies around the world? It's not the first attempt by autocracies to defeat democracy.

Not much to be honest, personally speaking.

American democracy as the world's "shining beacon on a hill" is a fairy tale.
Just like "manifest destiny" was.
There are better democracies than ours in Europe right now.

I understand where you're coming from. I know we're not the "beacon on a hill" for democracy because of racism (all men are created equal) but TBH racism isn't indigenous to America. I traveled some while in the navy and found Blacks are looked down upon in many countries.

My uncle told me a story. He said he was with a woman in Germany during WWII. At 12:00a she got up and stared at his buttocks. He said she was told Black people grew tails at midnight. I don't believe that story to be true but it's a way of saying Blacks may be degraded worldwide.

As far as "beacon on a hill" goes we are the template for democracy as a way of government even though we don't strictly adhere to it.

This is Minority Report level stuff here . . . literally:

POLICE STATE: Florida sheriff’s office compiles lists of school kids deemed potential criminals

Florida’s Pasco County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) has been compiling secret lists of middle and high school students that they believe could “fall into a life of crime.”

The confidential records, some protected by state and federal law due to the sensitive nature of their contents, have been used to single out children with poor grades, or who have been a victim of or a witness to abuse – all criteria that the Sheriff’s office uses to compile its roster.

According to Pasco County law enforcement officials, 420 students are currently on the list – a list created by data plucked surreptitiously from academic records and those of the state Department of Children and Families.

Neither the parents nor the children have been aware of the Sheriff’s Office’s practices until now, and even school superintendent Kurt Browning said he was “unaware of the Sheriff’s Office was using school data to identify kids who might become criminals,” the Tampa Bay Times reported.

The principals of two local high schools also had no idea that the Sheriff’s Office was utilizing its records to brand children as potential criminals and affect their future employment and educational prospects.

The practice has raised questions about the privacy and confidentiality of student records. Multiple law enforcement experts have expressed concern about the potential misuse of the children’s information and called the program “unusual,” in a massive understatement.

“Can you imagine having your kid in that county and they might be on a list that says they may become a criminal?” said Linnette Attai, a consultant who helps companies and schools comply with student privacy laws.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to the criticism by saying the program’s use of the confidential data “was also designed to identify students at risk for victimization, truancy, self-harm and substance abuse.” Except that none of that is the job of law enforcement – and neither is combing through private school and children’s services records without cause and flagging vulnerable children for possible harassment and law enforcement engagement.

Special Master Has a Simple Test That May Be Disaster for Trump

Special Master Raymond Dearie indicated Tuesday that this case could be very simple, and that Trump may be in trouble.

Former President Donald Trump’s battle with the FBI over its search of Mar-a-Lago has moved from South Florida to New York City, where a court-appointed “special master” on Tuesday indicated he has a very simple test for whether he sides with the Department of Justice.

The special master, Raymond J. Dearie, said Tuesday that if Trump’s lawyers don't officially counter whether the documents the former president took are classified, then Dearie will side with the DOJ.

“As far as I'm concerned, that's the end of it,” he said.

Dearie, a semi-retired federal judge in Brooklyn who’s playing the role of temporary referee, wants to speed up the process and get federal agents back on track. And while Trump has been alleging on social media that he already declassified the records he swiped from the White House, Dearie is demanding that Trump put up or shut up. The senior judge is asking that Trump’s team assert—in sworn affidavits where lies could mean jail time—whether or not Trump actually declassified them.

They can't share how they know the documents were declassified because they haven't finished making that lie up yet.

If they're going to continue with that strategy I bet Kash Patel is somehow involved. He's the only who claimed he heard Trump give a verbal order to declassify the documents. Since there were so many, I don't know how he could prove he witnessed each one though.

A document that is classified has a stamp on it? and one over it that would say Declassified if that event happened to that document?

I'd say not a chance
Much of it requires more than one person to declassify
And the Librarians who asked for the documents back know more about their classification than Trump

Obama has a Huge library in his name and doesn't "own" a single item in the library - all owned by government and only in his library with advance permission that was granted after a request

Trump should face the electric chair a hundred times over. Worst American who ever lived. Can't say "who paid taxes" because he never did that legitimately either

Trump plead the 5th 440 times in one deposition

He has to remain this guy until his last breath. What a choice
His mentor was gay and railed against gays in public and died of AIDS himself
His Mentor helped promoted McCarthyism/Red Scare and Lavender Scare - convincing the Gov gays were not able to be trusted

So upon looking up some info..look at this oddddd nugget

Paragraph after the quote shows how (bleep) stupid too much power makes our government

Quote:

https://pleasekillme.com/lavender-scare/

The first real signal of “Lavender” fear-mongering in Washington came in 1947, when the U.S. Park Police enacted a “Sex Perversion Elimination Program” in the District of Columbia. Officers patrolled Lafayette Park, across the street from the White House (where, 70 years later, Roy Cohn’s acolyte would have his photo op with an upside-down Bible) and Franklin Park, between 14th and 13th streets, K and I streets, near present-day McPherson Square. If you were a male walking through these parks at night, looking even slightly suspicious or furtive, you were subject to arrest, fine, fingerprinting and photographing, this information kept permanently in what was called a “pervert file.” By early 1950, 700 men had been detained, 200 of whom were arrested. Most were federal government workers.

The next paragraphs

What a bunch of worthless cowards.

Quote:

Soon thereafter, the U.S Congress passed Public Law 615 (aka the Miller Act), signed by Pres. Harry Truman on June 9, 1948. This law targeted “sexual psychopaths” in Washington, D.C. It called for the apprehension of any “sexual psychopath”—defined as “a person, not insane, who by a course of repeated misconduct in sexual matters has evidenced such lack of power to control his sexual impulses as to be dangerous to other persons because he is likely to attack or otherwise inflict injury, loss, pain, or other evil on the objects of desire.”

The Miller Act gave complete discretion to the U.S. Attorney to initiate proceedings against whoever they believed fit the above definition. This led to men, most of whom had not committed crimes, being committed indefinitely to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital until the doctors there determined that the patient “has sufficiently recovered so as not to be dangerous to other persons.” It also allowed for vindictive co-workers or supervisors to target troublesome colleagues, spread malicious rumors, not to mention making extortion demands for compromising photographs or stolen love notes. Because this was all enacted in civil court, the “patient” did not have the constitutional guarantees against self-incrimination that a defendant in a criminal case would have.

Gray area on some, but certainly not certain national security documents.

If the school district (and not the cops) were doing this only to get those people services and help to prevent them from going on the wrong path, then I guess it would be OK.

But the school to prison pipeline is a problem. It brands kids as "criminals," and doing that kind of stuff can have a bad effect on their self-esteem and self-image that could lead them further on a bad path.

There's no reason to handle disciplinary or behavioral stuff at school as legal things, like that one time a Black girl in high school wouldn't put her phone away, and a cop was called into the classroom who literally body-slammed her.

She's trying to take down his entire business and end his ability to do business in NY ever again, including Ivanka, Don Jr and Eric. And she's making criminal referrals to Southern district in NY and to the IRS.

Quote:
Chris Jansing @ChrisJansing

New York AG Letitia James is suing former president Trump, family members and Trump Org - alleging years of bank, tax, and insurance fraud & also making criminal referrals to the IRS criminal division and U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of NY

James specifically said at the press conference that some of the remedies they are seeking (from a judge at the end of the trial if proven guilty):

Dissolution of the Trump Organization
Over the next 5 years, Trump prevented from taking out any further loans in NY or selling any Trump NY properties
Repayment of all back taxes, fines, etc.

And on and on. It's a doozy.

(Trump learned all this from his father who was also a lifelong criminal who grew their businesses based on fraud, criminality and abuse. )

Presumed Republican 2024 nominee is currently under investigation or being sued for:

-Bank fraud
-Tax fraud
-Insurance fraud
-Inciting an insurrection
-Theft of classified documents
-Espionage
-Illegal election interference (Georgia)
-Fake electors scheme to steal the election
-Various civil suits involving sexual harassment, E. Jean Carroll defamation suit, Capitol police lawsuit, Mary Trump monetary fraud,

And that's after he was forced to end fraudulent Trump University and Trump Charity and pay massive civil fines.

Kurt Eichenwald has covered Trump for over 20 years:

Quote:
Kurt Eichenwald @kurteichenwald

Trump knew this was coming. He knew that, without cash, his company could be forced to go under even during the litigation. He had possession of classified documents worth billions to foreign nations. I’m not saying these are connected. But it sure would answer why he took them.

Quote:

Everyone has always been salivating for the criminal cases against trump. I have always been skeptical of anything but the financial ones. This civil case is trumps worst nightmare. Numbers don’t lie.

If Teflon Don gets out of all this unscathed I'll lose a lot of faith in our judicial system. I've already lost the little faith I had in the Republican party.
