The Oilers were thoroughly the better team tonight and deserved to win. They had a sense of urgency from the beginning, the Kings were fumbling pucks left and right and failing to clear the zone, and the game-winning goal was another mistake where a young player fails to recognize that you can't turn the puck over with McDavid on your hip when you try to go backwards with it; that puck has to get deep and AA didn't do that. We had 4 PP's to their 1 and they still beat us. They were much better than we were 5-on-5 tonight and that's our calling card.

A Game 7 for all the marbles. They'll be heavily favored. Anytime McDavid is on the ice you practically expect a good scoring chance if they have it in our zone. We're going to have to win 3 of 4 at their place to win the series. A tough task, indeed.

Each team is 2-1 on the road in this series and 1-2 at home.

Well, they are .666 on the road in the series, so it's less than a .090 move to 3 out of 4 . . . sounds do able!

Yet another goal where we make a mistake, in clear possession of the puck and we don't clear it, they keep it in the zone, and get the goal. Now an Oilers PP. Danger time here.

We killed the PP but they were all over us for the last 10 minutes or so. They are outshooting us 34-18. Still could pull this out with one good period and a lucky bounce or two, but it really does feel like they have kind of taken control of the play over the past 2 games. Quick's been great tonight. He probably has to stand on his head for the remaining time tonight for us to pull this out.

Time to really get in gear next season and take the next step. There are so many good things in place, but we need more dynamic shooting and scoring on the top 2 lines, and that would also address the pathetic PP, and I expect us to be in on the top names in free agency and also in the trade market. We also don't have our goaltending situation long-term settled, as Quick is obviously near the end of the line and Petersen was mediocre this season.

Still, a lot to be proud of this season and we weren't close to at full strength.

It was a miracle the score was even that close.

So it will be a rather epic Stanley Cup Final where skill meets skill, at least on paper, with the two-time defending Cup champion Lightning facing the Avalanche. How about this: the Lightning's Patrick Maroon is going for his fourth straight Stanley Cup, having won the last 2 with Tampa Bay and also winning it in 2019 with St. Louis. Here's another one: either Tampa Bay is going to win its 3rd straight Cup, or Corey Perry is going to lose in the Cup Final for the 3rd straight year.

Tampa will set the record for most playoff games in a 3-year span, and I do think they have the goaltending advantage. Brayden's Point's likely return should help them, too. It's a truly great matchup on paper. I'm going to take Colorado to win, but nothing would surprise me. We have two truly great teams going at it.

The Kings have made a huge move today, trading the 19th overall pick in tomorrow's draft, along with prospect defenseman Brock Faber, for Minnesota Wild LW Kevin Fiala. Or, should I say, former Wild LW Kevin Fiala! Fiala is also signing a long-term extension with the Kings as part of the deal. Fiala scored 80 points last season, with 33 goals, and might be the most dynamic winger that Kopitar has had a chance to play with. He's only 25 years old.

Per @RussoHockey who had the @mnwild Trade of Fiala to @LAKings first- LAK aren’t done, they have the deepest prospect pool in The National.
