I am doing a 180 on the draft .... with the #2 pick I want the Lakers to pick
Kristaps Porzingis
Yup, you think I am crazy, there's something about him and his game that screams "IT" to me. This is how I felt when watched clips of Damian Lillard.
I have a feeling he is Dirk part 2 ... the upside is too much and it is worth skipping on Towns or Okafor.
I hope Mitch is clever enough to possibly slide down to #3 or #4 to add assets (picks & cap space). _________________ #11/08/16 America became GREAT again

I have a gut feeling that the Knicks will draft him, with the hope that he'll fill out and develop post skills (Pau Gasol rather than Dirk). |

He's too frail and doesn't have the skills of Dirk or Pau. He has a narrow frame with thin shoulders, if he adds weight he will lose some of his mobilty. He also doesn't like contact, role player at best. |

Lillard may have it, but you don't take him over Anthony Davis. Porzingis might pan out, but I'm not sure he pans out to the point where he is clearly above Okafor, Towns and Russell. |

I don't have the guts to take Porzingis at 2 but I would take him at 3. |

It's hard for me to get a good read on the guy. He is highly productive in his league, especially in limited minutes, but gets pushed around A LOT considering his comp.
It only gets worse at the NBA level, and basically if I could trust that he'll gain strength, he's Top 4. But I can't, so I'd go Top 10. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

I stand by my earlier prediction. I doubt Phil takes Mudiay at #4, and I think if Porzingis fills out a little (no guarantee) he'll have much greater upside than Winslow. I don't like the physique either, but then I remember Pau as this rail-thin Euro when he first came over. |

How does Krispy compare to Motiejunas at a similar age/competition? |

Montiejunas doesn't have his footwork, lateral movement, or agility. Donatas was a basic post player first (one of my favorite guys in the post because he does the same move, equally proficient on both sides of the block, even with the off-hand), but his set shot and perimeter shooting is spot up only.
Porzingis, with his agility and athleticism, can not only pop those shots off, but basically get a similar shot selection to Kevin Durant as well, coming off of screens, being the ball-handler in a PnR situation, etc. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

You have read the recent rave reviews http://hoopshype.com/player/kristaps-porzingis/
Two things he needs to do to hit a level of greatness in the NBA .....
1. Gain 20-30 pounds of muscle through working out correctly and eating right. 50% of which will be from his body maturing
2. Develop his intensity and mean streak, a killer instinct - not Kobe level but something similar to Dirk's assassin streak. _________________ #11/08/16 America became GREAT again

I've watched enough game highlights. I didn't see Damian Lillard play in an actual game to see something special in him. _________________ #11/08/16 America became GREAT again

I hope the Lakers can get him in for a team workout. How is he in the open floor and on defense. What's his position. He seems like a tall SF. Can he guard PF's, doesn't look like it. |

I saw KP’s (Kristaps Porzingis) workout on Friday and he looked awfully impressive. This kid could end up being the best player in the draft five years from now. He is not the average European player and had he gone to college, he would have wound up being the number 1 pick over Karl Towns. If he puts on another 25 lbs, he will be a monster in this league. Very agile and athletic and he can shoot the ball. Right now strength will hold him back because of an inability to hold his position on the block. _________________ "Changes aren't permanent, but change is." - Rush, Tom Sawyer |

KRL, Lillard is the 2nd or 3rd best player from his draft. He went 6th. It wasn't that big of a find.
I'm not trying to insult you man, but you do bring it up a lot. Comes off as bragging. |

It is bragging. I have no trouble with it. Plus I clearly stated he would be the best player behind Anthony Davis.
Hindsight equals wasn't a big find. Go see my thread and when I posted it. _________________ #11/08/16 America became GREAT again

You posted the thread like a week before the draft, when everyone knew he was going high. You've also talked about the "visions of greatness" with Doug McDermott, how Thomas Robinson was a "star in the making", how Jeremy Tyler had "limitless talent", and you loved Jimmer Fredette. We tend to hear about those observations less. We get that you liked Lillard and he turned out to be good, but it doesn't validate every draft opinion that you have. Why we're talking about Damian Lillard in a Kristaps Porzingis thread is beyond me. |
