Juan Toscano-Anderson signs a new 2-year deal with the Warriors. He was my Caruso insurance guy this summer. Too bad. _________________ Under New Management |

I guess you’re going by the Forbes calculations, which value the Lakers at $5.14 billion and the Warriors at $5.21 billion.
Those numbers aren’t really meaningful. Forbes churns out a lot of lists, because people love lists, but there's a lot of guesses baked into the calculations.
The only way to truly see what a franchise is worth at any given time is to put it on the market and see what gets bid. |

The reason Forbes probably has the Warriors valued higher is most likely due to their new arena.
The cowboys are probably the highest because of Jerry World.
Forbes puts a lot of value into the assets of a franchise. So new Arena/Stadium spikes the valuation.
Like active said, it’s all about the bidding. Imo if the Lakers ever did go up for sale, the would blow the Warriors out of the water. If GS got $3B, the Lakers would get over $4B. |

What would it cost to get Ariza back? He looks very quick still. |

That's a tough one. Ariza made about 13 million this year. No one's going to throw that kind of money at him again. The heat have his bird rights. They have a lot of flexibility and can go a lot of ways.
I could see Ariza getting anywhere from the vet's minimum to the mid-level, depending on how fortune pans out for him. Obviously, the lower his salary, the more competition to get him. |

These estimates are all completely meaningless when it comes to teams. Every journalist was laughing at the price Guggenheim paid for the Dodgers and look at where they are now. Sports teams are basically the ultimate halo purchase for billionaires. If a guy decides to blow every bidder out of the water, it's done. Clippers were sold for SIGNIFICANTLY higher than what Forbes guesstimated them to be worth and that was a scenario where they HAD to sell the team. I'd bet the farm the Lakers would sell for significantly more than $5B in the unlikely scenario that the Busses would put the team up for sale. Their TV deal alone has 12 years left and the balance of the $3B Spectrum bought the rights for. That number isn't going down when they re-up. _________________ KOBE |

Yeah, the worldwide brand of the Lakers is SUBSTANTIONALLY larger then the Clippers or Timberwolves obviously which in turn makes the bragging rights that much more appealing as well. It would be a ridiculous bidding war and the end amount would depend who is in that war more then anything else. If you get a couple extreme billionaires going at each other, who knows where that number ends up. Prestigious franchises in massive markets like the Lakers aren't available very often. |

Way before the astronomical prices on teams, Bill Simmons used to say repeatedly that the Buss's have had one Godfather offer after another for the team. The bidding war for a team like the Lakers would be dizzying. They can go on and on about the Cowboys but the fact of the matter is football is irrelevant outside of the United States. A team like the Lakers would have buyers across the globe vying to win. I mean, if I was Elon rich, I'd toss Jeannie a 10B offer just to see if that would change their minds. Not enough? How about another 1B? _________________ KOBE |

I get it. Some teams own their buildings some don’t like lakers. But iirc they do own their el segundo facilities. However the lakers brand is part of a tiny group that would command more than the next. Lakers Yankees Man U and probably cowboys |

Quite the piece needed to replace Dennis for sure. At least more realistic option than a CP3 buyout or Lonzo reunion. |

From 73-9 to clinching an 8 seed and ripping your jersey off to show just how far your team has fallen off the map
