With Caruso on board, it makes no sense. |
Unless they think he's leaving.
TJ is a better passer and caretaker, and a defensive pest, but his scoring/shooting is not the best. Would we use our 6m mini MLE on him? Seems like an odd move but I don't trust Evan Massey with any breaking scoops. Perhaps TJ using the good old "Lakers are interested in..." thing to drum up his value. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Caruso is the better player. Personally I think it looks bad if Caruso isn't kept for at least an MLE type contract.
We have his bird rights. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Personally i find hard to imagine he isnt a priority. Plus, Tell me another city where he could make his off the court cash like LA. hes a young balding pale accountant that is seen everywhere. He is a cult hero in vain of young rambis. |

He’s a keeper long term and will be shock if we did not try to do everything in our power to bring him back. If we cater to Schroder and his demands, then a proven player like Caruso is a must. |

Some guys that we could take a flier on for cheap to boost depth and potentially address needs:
Dennis Smith, Jr.
Denzel Valentine
WCS
Frank Ntilikina
Malik Monk
Bobby Portis/Bryn Forbes (they probably both played themselves into bigger contracts, but who knows)
Mo Harkless
Wayne Ellington
Austin Rivers
Raul Neto
Harry Giles
SVI (if the Pistons somehow let him go...) |

I’m a big fan of Dennis Smith Jr., but he doesn’t fit Vogel’s defensive schemes, so they can’t offer him a starting gig, well, they can, but it would be repeat of Schroder. He would be interesting as a leader of the second unit, especially if another team nabs THT. |

Yeah. I'd definitely slot him into that type of bench role, since he's not close to a starter right now, with or without THT. That would be a pretty fun combo, actually, but also incredibly frustrating at times...
Also, regarding Vogel's defensive schemes, they need to go away from targeting only players that fit that ideal (if that's indeed what they're doing). The bottom line is that without AD, the defensive schemes don't mean (bleep), as we saw against the Suns. And if you're only getting players that can play defense but are otherwise deficient on the other end, then your offense isn't going to be good enough to win, either.
If Vogel can't make players fit his system (especially when he's been gifted with an anchor like AD), instead of the other way around, then he has no business being head coach when defensive acumen is the main thing he brings to the table. Basically, he should be doing the opposite and getting players that can mask his deficiencies on offense, while focusing on making those players work on defense within his schemes. |

The only PG that will fit Vogel are pg who can defend. Ball/CP3/Lowry/Jrue/Conley. Hoping they can get someone like that. |

FWIW.. LeBron seems to be keeping a close contact with Lonzo on Social Media and with the Dennis extension talks being a unknown maybe LeBron wants the FO to bring back his former PG. |

and 3s. a lot of skill shots we don't make.. makes for a very robotic, predictable, stagnant offense. maybe we don't sign the most skilled role players, or it's something about the lights in LA. |

Screw Vogel's schemes. You need more offense. you can only defend so much. |

Disagree. Offense will be hot/cold but defense will always be there. |

I hope so, but watching the playoffs this year seems like refs are calling it like the regular season. Every year players like Harden flame out, because playoff basketball is called different. This year seems like it’s the regular season.

Remember at that time everyone was pining for more picks, and there were some vocal IT fans here on LG. |
I think it was Clarkson and Nance for IT, Frye and a 2018 1st (#25) which was Mo Wagner. IT and Frye were basically washed at that point. It was a bad trade for us in a vacuum, but if you recall we were trying to clear space for 2 Max FA's....but we only signed Lebron. In hindsight, we could have waited to move Clarkson and Nance because we did not use the cap space created on a max player that offseason. |
