Hmm Carlisle didn’t list Luka by name... |
caught that. Good coach on the market. |
Boston. If I’m Stevens I offer it to him right now |

Rick Carlisle -- who led Dallas to the 2011 NBA championship -- informed Mavericks owner Mark Cuban today that he won't be returning as coach next season, Carlisle told ESPN. Carlisle had two years left on his contract. He spent 13 seasons as Mavericks coach.

Imagine if Griffin hires him. All will be forgiven. |

I don't blame Vogel for this season, but Carlisle would be an upgrade and the Lakers have yet to give Vogel an extension.
That said, I'm sure Boston will go after him hard and they have a good shot at him with his history there. |

We should hire Rick Carlisle. We aren’t going to find a coach as good as him on the market after Vogel’s contract is up. |

My guess is he goes to the Celtics given his past relationship with the Celtics and Brad Stevens.
I do think Carlisle with Zion and BI is a match made in heaven. They would actually get coached for the first time in their careers. |

Does he even have a relationship with Stevens or are some just speculating. I think his relations with the Celtics went South when Ainge left. |

yes i agree, but as currently stand Lakers is not a attractive place for Carlisle. Boston, N.O., even Milwaukee are more appealing than us. |

Not to nitpick, but Walton (MVP, Finals MVP, Championship) and Drexler (2 Finals appearances with the Blazers) have some legitimate claim here vs Dame (1 WCF were he was swept). That said, yeah, given that he's certainly one of their all time best players and has never expressed an interest in leaving to improve his own career prospects, yes, their fans would be pissed if they move him. |

Maybe Jkidd backed out of the Portland gig knowing this was a distinctive possibility.
And I agree, either demote Vogs to his rightful spot as a DC or send his ass out if he ain’t having it.
Quote: | Per Stein: Carlisle had two years left on his contract in Dallas, but there are five other coaching openings in the NBA and possibly more forthcoming. He'll easily land another job.
Rumblings about Milwaukee as a destination -- IF the Bucks make a change -- have been circulating for weeks. |

I don’t know about that, he’s one of the older coaches in the coaching fraternity, so I’d think he would like to coach a veteran team, particularly one with LeBron and AD. The only real hurdle is if the Lakers would be motivated to tell Vogel to (bleep) off with one year left on his deal. But it’d be worth it. I have a really high opinion of Carlisle. But it probably won’t happen, however if you truly wanted to maximize LeBron and ADs window you go after Rick. Short of landing another impact player, a great coach would easily raise this team’s ceiling. |

Isn't there some sort of honor code, even among coaches? Especially the older ones. It would be so obvious that I don't think Rick would take the job. Now if they had fired Vogel long before Rick made his decision... |

They're having a major diversity-improvement overhaul there. Here's the coaches on their radar:
Chauncey Billups
Ime Udoka
Sam Cassell
Darvin Ham
Carlisle would have been an obvious Ainge hire, but he's gone now. Stevens has no connection to him. And the fact Ainge left so abruptly after his "I've never seen racism in Boston" quote isn't a coincidence to me. |

But with that said. I do not know if Carlise is elite.
I mean a good coach should understand their roster and place them in best position. The way he used Porzingis (although porzingis is overrated) didnt make me feel that he was good
Carlise to me is a Doc Rivers. Great when he has high IQ point gaurds like CP @ , Jason Kidd, but can't adapt
The recent dallas teams play no defense.
Dave Joerger, Scott Brooks, Kenny Atkinson are good coaches that could thrive with young teams like Pelicans or Boston
Jason Kidd likely will do well in Dallas with Luka
Boston job is ready made team.
I dont think he deserves it, but Mike D will likely get hired somewhere.
Would like to see Coach K coach 2 years in the league. Maybe Boston or coach Zion with Pels. Zion needs to call him up! _________________ I got Nothing interesting to put here |

So Carlisle had to do a better job using Porzingis, who was overrated? Not to mention rarely healthy?
Having to play KP is a big reason their defense was underwhelming. They also lost Jackson to injury. It was a poorly constructed roster by Nelson. |

Man. Luka is taking the Lebron comparisons to heart. My guy is going to expand the playbook LBJ built and take this player empowerment era to the next level, with Zion right behind him. What a time to be a Lakers' fan, when we've already got a pipeline of young talent forming, a few years earlier than expected! |

For real though, it just seems like Luka wants a coach who will let him do whatever the (bleep) he wants (and who can blame him?), exactly like Lebron. He's got the baby face and smile, but it seems reading between the lines here with the Mavs' chaos, he's every bit as controlling and Cuban is gonna play the Dan Gilbert role here. Good for Luka. |

(bleep)'s really gonna hit the fan when we get the inevitable run of "*insert star young player name here* has signed with Klutch Sports" press releases |

And yet there's Cuban a couple days ago saying it was all B.S.
Anyway, big surprise...another narcissistic billionaire swindled by the con-man and destroying his business. The only thing Cuban ever needs to say is "Luka what do you want?" And then make that thing happen, whatever it is. Elevating a gambler to shadow GM and pushing out the nominal GM who has a good relationship with your star player is idiotic. Defending it in the media is even more idiotic. Defending it and then having all the dirty laundry come out two days later is the most idiotic. Anyway, I'm sure the conman shadow GM can convince Cuban that his number show that Kuz and KCP>Luka and we can swing a deal. |
