What do you guys think about this?
Lakers get CJ McCollum and Derrick Favors
Blazers get Muscala and a 28M TPE
OKC gets Westbrook and a 2027 1st |

Getting rid of WB's contract is less important this season than trading for a defensive forward, neither of which are CJ or Favors. If worse comes to worse, Vogel can bench Westbrook to minimize the negative impact. He can't just conjure up bigger players out of thin air that can help stop opponents from scoring, which is a far bigger issue for the Lakers right now than WB's erratic play.
No thank you. |

So the Blazers trade the second best player on their team for Mike Muscala and a trade exception? C’mon man. |

It’s hinged on Lillard missing the season and POR blowing it up, btw it’s not my idea |

LeBron and Westbrook are here through next season, period. I could see THT traded this year, and I could see AD traded next season if we are this crappy again. I would love the Grant deal for THT/Nunn and then a rebuild trade for AD could be with his hometown Chicago…
Davis for Vucevic, White, and Williams
Vucevic comes off the books after next season with LeBron, Westbrook, as does Grant if we ended up with him. |

A TPE can only be created if you trade a player and take no salary back. |

As as has been said numerous times, Russ aint going anywhere. Not this season, and not next. He is your Los Angeles Lakers starting pg for the next 1.5 seasons.
If any traction for the Myles Turner rumors / suggestions / what have you (and by "rumors" I mean nothing of real substance I'm aware of other than folks here and in other articles making the suggestion) then I'd be intrigued how a Turner / AD front court looks (meaning THT exits). This assumes a ton, however, including the Lakers moving away from small ball, trying to play with size, figuring out if such a lineup works with Russ, etc. Gives me a headache just to speculate about it.
In fact, just forget I wrote this...I'll leave it here versus delete it as a reminder as to how messed up our club is that every darn scenario I come up with in my head (except the pipe of Russ going outbound for a non-Russ clone inbound) means going through pretzel thoughts re "will it work with Russ." _________________ "One thing I admire about Kuzma is his unwavering confidence. Actually, if we were to do that Davis trade, I would just hold onto THT and hope he develops, if not, trade him later on. We just need to maintain the cap space for Tatum in 2025. |

If the Lakers don't contend by next season, I can actually see Rob doing AD dirty and trading him for some long term assets. That kinda makes the most sense to me. Rob's planning this out in myGM mode as we speak.
Then 40 year Lebron gets his Kobe-esque retirement tour with a bunch of 20 year olds, while the team wins 25 games.

We got this, Ellington and AB are 1st rounders. That or if they prefer the promising young player, THT has been promising to improve his defense, shooting and use of his left for a while. |

THT + 1st for Turner? Does the math work? |

THT + 1st for Turner? Does the math work? |
We need to add more contracts in there. I think it would likely need to be THT, DAJ (waived by Indy), Bazemore to get the math done.
For the picks, I'd guess we would have to offer two second rounders plus a #1 from 2026/27 to get it done. Indiana would want it unprotected, and if we made a deal like that, we better protect the pick top 10.
Even then, the only way this is possible is if Indiana values THT as a future starter, and also is willing to wait for a future #1 pick. I think they would do this deal. But damn, adding a 18M contract to a roster that already has 130M invested into AD/Bron/RW. Pretty much you've got no way to improve after this.
Turner is a major upgrade, and Turner/AD would be incredible on D. Just don't see the fit for LA on offense. It goes back to what I keep saying. The only way anything works out for us is if we first remove ourselves from having to incorporate RW into the equation. The spacing isn't good with Turner/AD/Bron/RW. To make it work, you need to run 2 shooting wings with Turner/AD/Bron. |
