There's no way that Kyrie is taking the minimum.
If there was any hope of that happening... we would have saved the MMLE for him.
There must be a three way trade in the works and they are all playing chicken to see who will blink in terms of draft picks.
Of course there is? He'd still be getting paid the majority of his monster contract by the Nets if bought out. I doubt a couple million is going to be the deciding factor for a guy that will be making 35+ million even after negotiating the buy out.
I don't think the Nets are going to do that though but if they did i'd say him signing for Minimum is actually the most likely thing to happen in that scenario.
This is how it is.. you play well and win the championship you get paid, if Lonnie Walker ends up having a good year and we have a successful season he will end up like GPII

You don’t need a successful season as a team, just an individual one. Just look at Monk.

I don't think they'd do that either... it makes sense for them to take Russ and two draft picks... I don't get why they'd stretch him.
The Brooklyn Nets are in a world of hurt right now. Their GMs head must be spinning. He just got hit by a 2x4 today. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.

Yeah that’s a solid point, hopefully we end up with both scenarios next year.

It's funny they were a Moneyball franchise that sold out to star power at the first opportunity and are now trying to re-pivot to Moneyball after star power screws them. _________________ Under New Management
If Nets move KD, Phoenix is the front runner. Ayton, Bridges and 3 FRPs.
If the Lakers are hellbent to add Irving. Something like WB and a FRP for Irving and Claxton would be my preference.
Not interested in Harris. Doubt the Nets are trading Curry or ONeal. IMO keeping it as easy as possible is best way to make it work. Some of these laundry lists of players and teams complexes the issue too much.

It's insane some of these contracts
Towns at 55+ million a year
Beal 50 million a year
Brunson of all players even got 100+ million dollar contract....
Then McGee who I was hoping we could bring back for the Minimum just got a 3 year deal at nearly 7 mill per year and he's already 34 years old.
Absolutely insane contracts.. Somehow I am still surprised nearly every off season.

I think rebounding and tough interior defense is what worries me so far. We may have some decent perimeter defense but watch out for other teams attacking the rim there's not much protection there. I think Rob lacks ability to understand how to balance a team, he overloads the team with redundancy in some areas. Our 2020 team was perfectly balanced thus the reason for championship. They had very good rebounding, 3 swatting centers to scare the hell of anyone trying the rim, good perimeter defense with guys like KCP, Caruso, and Kuzma. Even though our 3pt game was not the greatest in the league our defense is what won that championship.
If Ham is behind some of these acquisitions I'm a bit worried. Don't see much out of this group of young guys with lack of experience and size to be effective against most NBA offenses, and they certainly don't have that offense you can rely on when your main guys are not there. I don't expect much this year unless there is another significant piece added and I don't mean just Kyrie. I'm sorry for the pessimism, but with an aging LBJ, and overly injured unmotivated AD, and wild out of control Westbrook, there's a good possibility we may not make the playoffs again. I'm not getting my hopes up. It will be fun to evaluate some of the talent in the Summer league.

U read the news today?
Just catching up. What did I miss that eliminates my wild speculation?

Now Ky coming on a vet min deal? Reaally?! That’s a stretch! Get it?
Opt-in & trade was always the way to go. No hard cap to deal with and you get dude’s bird rights to gain maximum flexibility in keeping him. Not to mention, we really could force dude to taking performance dependent incentives considered “unlikely” and he probably complies. This way it’s possible ownership gets to duck the tax next year. Let me repeat myself….Jeanie, you get to potentially duck the tax next year with a FA like Ky.
Ky alone can be traded for a 46.2m player…damn. Just missed a straight swap for Russ. So now they gotta add at a minimum 900k in salary. Now we trading for a bit more, so let’s make the draft picks we’re forced to give up, count.
Give us the youngn Cam Thomas & a future 2nd & we’ll throw in our 2027 pick. Add JHarris or Seth Curry into it and we’ll swap out THT. That’s a win for both sides imho. No 3rd team needed. _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?
