To put it another way, Luka excluded, which young PG do you build your team around:

Jamal Murray
De'Aaron Fox
Trae Young
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Ja Morant
LaMelo Ball
Other (please specify)

I wouldn't "build a team" around either.

But in terms of which one I'd want the most, Lamelo, D'lo, Lonzo, Ja, Shai.

Those would probably be the 4 off that list. One of those 4 has already been an all-star that dragged an injured team in the into the playoffs essentially by themselves. Let's see if anyone else on that list(in the East at least) pulls that off as well!

In terms of Lamelo, I love the way his game look sand I am glad that he finally got to start, I was worried Clifford was going to screw this up (like so many in Charlotte have with draft prospects have done prior) but things happened and now Lamelo starts, and if healthy he should never not be starting.

Trae imo is like a point guard Devin Booker. He's pretty much told "shoot anything and everything!" and so he puts up these numbers, but you look at his efficiency and it lacks. He shoots 42% from the field(which would be fine if he was shooting 39-40% from three) but he isn't. Hopefully he turns around his efficiency from the field the way Booker did.

Shai at shooting guard though looks like he may also become a potential superstar, looking at his progression over the last 3 seasons and the fact he's a wing that is also capable of playing defense.

last 10 games 25/5.7/7.3 0.8 STL 0.9 BLK 52% Field Goal 41% Three Shai's coming for sure! Just wish he wasn't going to go to waste his prime on a rebuilding Thunder team.

Watching some of that made me realize how dang special Kyrie's talents are around the rim. Small, unstoppable.
As for Lamelo, the shot is the only concern it seems. And he's doing ok with it s far. His uniqueness and competitiveness might distance him in results from most of these other PGs.

This is a tough list to predict. I am really high on Murray (and therefore confused by this season so far) bc he's proven now from his playoff run. Too tough, first round to vs us. Would Trae Young be able to do that? Fox? Meaning to go head to head w/Mitchell first round and put fear into opponents, take out the Clippers? Maybe if they had a MVP-level player like Jokic. Lamelo I can see doing that with his unorhodoxness and competitiveness.
SGA is really intriguing. I don't know him that well, but am I wrong in feeling that there might be some Kawhi-like under the radar all around fundamental greatness developing? Better get outta OKC though.
Main distinguishing factor might end up being which of them gets on a good enough team to get playoff experience more quickly and have opportunities to go up against the greatest players and teams, fail, and come back. If so, that'll boil down to who can get traded to a good team bc Memphis, OKC, Sac, and possibly Atlanta are not those. Atl has a few good pieces, and maybe a changing culture plus in the East, so they might get to playoffs.

Murray for me is still more SG than natural playmaker - Jokic is the PG on the Nuggets, though they complement each other well. Trae's too physically limited to ever defend and I question if Fox or Morant will ever shoot reliably enough to be #1 options on a top four seed. I like all of them well enough and they're fun to watch, though.

SGA seems like the best option to be a complete PG other than LaMelo. Being 6-6+ as a playmaker makes team building around those guys seem easier.

SGA
LaMelo

Fox
Trae
Morant

Murray

Reasons. SGA and LaMelo are the types that can run a halfcourt offense but have no issues distributing to higher USG wings. Great blend. Basically they have the size to play "wing" if other wings are playmaking.

Fox/Trae/Morant - More of the traditional scoring type PGs that tend to need elite bigs to optimize their individual output.

Murray isn't a real PG, and his ball-handling/passing is average. All you have to do is press him in the backcourt or get a defender like Lonzo to press him and he'll cough it up.

But he'll win more playing his way.

If White Chocolate played the way Lamelo currently does, he wouldn't have been replaced with Mike Bibby.

Out for the year with a broken wrist.

Hornets should tank for Evan Mobley.

He may very well become the face of the league. His passing is exciting as Lebron and his shooting is every bit as entertaining as Steph. Zion has been disappointing, this play-in format was supposed to help them get in and then market him but here they are sitting at #11 while Charlotte is firmly at #8.

Happy for him. I actually preferred Edwards over Ball, but I don't think a single statistic - except for games played (which I really value) - would support my preference. I just really enjoyed watching Ant.

LaMelo is that dude, though. (Just don't sleep on Ant.)

Yeah essentially said that Lonzo would be great, Lamelo would be the best, and Liangelo wouldn't make the league.
