The cool thing about this rumor is it would take a Chris Paul veto to stop it is Kyrie and the Lakers mutually want it. Kyrie just opts out and Westbrook gets stretched to give Kyrie the 10 mil, which would be not THAT much more than he lost in his antivax stance.

If Russ opts out... How much can they give Kyrie, assuming he opts out too?

If he takes 30 mil pay cut to play for the lakers, his mental issues are more serious than people think.
Why don’t we sign Kyrie for MLE and trade Russ for KD? Lmao. I bet the league is not ready for that

The Lakers will have the league record for uncoachable players.

Haters will just say Lakers "bought" a championship when all teams operate w/the same salary cap rules lol

I believe if Russ opts out it puts us down to about $99m team total salary. So project cap increase to $122m... Give us about $23m cap space?

Imagine if we hasn’t traded for Westbrook last year and could just get rid of KCP/Kuzma instead.

This shows about $146.5M with Westbrook/Lebron/AD/THT/Nunn/Reaves under contract... Russ opts out put us at about $99.5m?

Don't see it.

With that said the Lakers are always the first team these mouthpieces bring up every time one of these situations pop up.

Agreed.
The Nets already seem to be sitting in a precarious position with KD. I don't see any way they risk trying to reunite him with Westbrook.

It always goes back to the Lakers making that ridiculously bad Westbrook trade last summer. That was such a huge, unforced error.

Imo Kyrie is looking to force the nets hand.

He would be better off using the Knicks as leverage

That's because 2 or 3 times a year they get marching orders to do whatever they can to get lebron more "help". Kyrie don't wanna play with that guy anymore, and KD wants no parts of Westbrook again. This is really silly.

I am also trying to figure out why the Nets would want to pair Ben Simmons and WB. Neither can shot and the lane would be clogged.

I metioned this in the trade topic: It's unlikely, but Kyrie can end up in LA if he makes it clear he'll only opt in with a trade to the Lakers and he has a spot to go to in free agency so the Nets won't call his bluff.

With those 2 things, the Nets best option is to trade him to the only team he'll opt in for so they don't lose him for nothing.

Kyrie is the best "3rd star" out of anybody who may be available. But I do still prefer the Lakers fill out the team with more solid to good players.

The “KD will ask for a trade if I don’t get the max”
bomb has dropped. Nets will cave.

Maybe Durant can run back to the Warriors if the Nets dump the 4D chess master.

Why do we even bring up Russ opting out as some theoretical snowball's chance?
