Went from not playing gasol, to starting him..

from starting drummond to benching him

from not playing morris to starting him

from not playing harrell to playing him in the last game all in one series.

some call it adjustments I call it not being an NBA coach.

clearly he is just throwing (bleep) at a wall to see what sticks.

Yeah... he was all over the place with his rotations, constant tinkering with lineups from the get-go. Sure didn't help the outcome. He needs his "Lead" assistant coach to be an offensive guru... don't think Jason Kidd is that

He was quick to adjust in last year playoffs. Not so much this one.

He needs to get AD's buy in to go small.

lebron and AD at the 4/5 needs to be the lineup for the majority of the minutes

Easy to adjust when you have your top 2 players healthy... It just seems like he didn't really have a plan when one of them is missing.

...in the playoffs. During the regular season, drop their mins to around 30 per and let them play whatever position they’re most comfortable at. We’re in it for the long game....regular season honors and awards be damned.

Btw, looks like Kidd is on his way out with Portland and Boston as potential suitors.

That move to ultra small ball helped us cut a 29 point lead to within striking distance. He’s just wedded to traditional big men. He quickly pivoted away in last year’s playoffs, granted we had a healthy LBJ/AD but this year he didn’t adjust anything, especially knowing AD was likely a no go.

We're going to lose Kidd no doubt. We need a top flight offensive minded assistant for him because he can't handle the offense. It's two years shown over.

I think he's a great defensive coach and developed a great defensive system for our team. Last year we got easy offense from playing great defense and getting out in transition - we seemed to get away from that this year.

Shooting has been a problem for this team and they need to find a coach who can support that. It's been a long standing problem for us. We have bad FT shooting & 3P shooting. Obviously that is a personnel issue but I think that a young bright offensive mind would help him. We in theory gave up defense this year for offense (DS, Trezz, Drum, Mclemore, Wes). Not one of those guys had a better offensive year than last year which does to go to show that he's no where near a great offensive mind. He can supplement his weaknesses.

Coaching generally is overrated at the NBA level.

No coach is winning with AD limping around and LeBron playing at maybe 65% with the majority of the role players slumping miserably.

That would take a REALLY good coaching scheme.

winning isn't what was expected...that spirited 2nd half... was what we expected to see.energy...effort and a gameplan. When too many players look lost on the court...it's because they haven't seen it before ..and that points at coaching. His offense relies too much on the brilliance of LeBron and Ad...but their availability isn't so reliable....so he needs a strong offensive system...that encourages ball and body movement...it's way too stagnate...hence the scoring droughts that became routine.

Woj: After a fourth first-round playoff exit in five seasons, the Portland Trail Blazers and coach Terry Stotts mutually agreed to part ways on Friday, sources told ESPN.

There’s talk that Kidd is a candidate they considering for that spot.

Likely that a new OC otw to us. Maybe Kidd butters up Dame for us this upcoming season. One can hope haha

EDIT: curiously Kidd’s name is not in the list now per Woj hmm

Woj: Among candidates expected to be considered for the Blazers opening, sources tell ESPN: Clippers assistant Chauncey Billups, Jeff Van Gundy, Nets assistant Mike D’Antoni, and Michigan’s Juwan Howard.

He waited too long to the ultra small lineup that worked... that lineup should have been in midway through the 1st quarter

I think Vogel either brings in an offensive minded assistant coach or he has to go. I know he can't control the injuries that happen, but he can control the players that he needs to play and how they should be used.

Sitting Trezz during this playoff series just killed his confidence and ultimately his performance.

He also should have used THT more.

Vogel should have made the adjustments when they were down 30 in game 5 so that they would not have gone down by 36 in game 6. I mean, how do you not make the adjustment on Booker after he came out so hot in game 5, scoring 18 in the first quarter and allowing him to get hot again and go off for 22 in the first quarter game 6. No excuse for that.

In my opinion, get rid of Vogel!!

Lets all act like LeBron was hurt even though we saw him going for alley ops with head above the rim, averaged

25PPG, 8APG, 7RPG on 48%FG, 38% from 3PT.

Let that sink in.

Problem was in the spacing and we all know it. It was not a matter of our players "sucking" because we all know KCP, Wesley, Morris, Mclemore, and Marc can all shoot it.

The problem was the lack of offensive FLOW.

Vogels reliance on giving the ball to AD and Bron backfired.

He failed to have a plan B.

All season long we saw that we had a shooting problem but that did not stop him from playing

line ups like

THT | Caruso | Kuzma | Morris | Trez

All the damn time.

Can we also talk about benching trez who was our 3rd best player if you go by Simple rating? +3.8?

Gasol mentioned how the ball needed to move quicker, bodies needing to move more... this is not a shooting problem. That is a coaching philosophy problem. It is simple, swing the ball from side to side, attack close outs, let everyone touch the ball.

CP3 averaged 9PPG on 38% shooting... their MVP. Come up with other excuses for this guy please. Booker had a field day and this guy never tought of doing what lue has done

Jackson
PG13
Kawhi
Batum
Morris

even against 2 guys that are 7"3...... this is the modern NBA.

Ayton never scored posting up, it all came from our bigs being involved in pick and rolls.

If he is so good on defense how come PhX was scoring with such ease?

Because Davis did not play? so Davis is really the reason why our defense is good to begin with, not the coach.

I was waiting for LeBron to start hunting CP3 for post ups with his bad shoulder the same way Booker hunted Davis the first few minutes of the games which took him out. but we did not see it. Grant hill kept asking why is bron not on the block instead of running pick and rolls he has a mismatch everytime there.. ask vogel

He never had the right center this season. Should have kept Dwight or McGee

Here’s what I don’t understand. If Rob is to be believed and personnel decisions are made jointly with Bron/AD/Klutch/coaching staff, then why give Trez our only real cap asset in the offseason to only play dude sparingly in the regular season and notch 2 healthy DNPs against the Suns in the postseason?

https://preview.redd.it/adox2is2sg371.jpg?width=640&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=4dbab67c3bb3ea2f0313c66aca3f1080ee5c714f

Trez played 5 mins less per game this year for us compared to his last year with the cLips. I understand matchups and all that, but with AD missing half of the regular season, you would expect Trez to play a lot more....especially if he was part of the decision process in bringing Trez here in free agency. Same goes for Marc (who played 7 fewer mins per this year compared to his last in Toronto), but even that dude chalked up DNPs and wasn’t given much run in our short playoff run. Drummond was a late year add, so it’s not like he muddled up our center rotations much in the regular season. With. AD missing half the season and only 2 real center option on the roster, why weren’t they given more run if you actively dismissed Dwight from the vet min and sent McGee out so that you had the ability to lock up Marc on a 2 year deal after locking yourself up to the hard cap with the Trez signing.

Clearly Vogs had other ideas. That...or he did a complete 180 on playing these dudes after making sure we got them in free agency. There is a disconnect here.

Lakers won championship in his first year and had top ranked defense with AD only playing half the number of games in his second year. Lebron could take care of the offense. I still stand by the 10-year extension.
