At this point it doesn't even matter. We haven't been a real contender for 4 years now and we have no picks for the future. We're kind of just (bleep), the 2020 ship was fun though
The west was so much better this year and will probably be better next. Obviously we are still in a series, but we are old at the top and it shows in the 4th qt of every game as of late. _________________ Kobe.

Assuming we lose this series, I think Ham and Pelinka will possibly get an extension, definitely be back, based on 2 straight years in the playoffs and improvement in RS wins. You have to remember once they traded for Westbrook, and it turned out to be a disaster and mistake, they were in a really really bad spot.
Now, they're a competitive playoff team. I was reading a Jeanie transcript from season's start and she was lauding the job the 2 did. She even went as far as to say something like just getting in the playoffs that's significant and gives us a chance (basically scoffing at a notion that Lakers needed to be one of the top seeds after their WCF run).
If you look back at Kobe's last years, we were far less competitive. Pau was also on decline/on his way out. These are Lebron's last years in the league and the Lakers are in the playoffs and still a considerable respectable team. AD looks like a star still.
The only thing that would cause change is if Lebron pushed for it. Which I don't think he would. Instead, he may push for LA to use their draft pick (if NOR doesn't take it) to trade down for lower picks to draft his kid. This is a marriage that likely continues another year or two with Ham/Pelinka as well. They'll stay in the playoffs/relevant with AD/Lebron. The real question is what's the plan a few years from now. Do we really want Pelinka and these guys making those decisions?

Big Shot telling the truth on access…..coaching lost this game (again) and Ham already has endorsement for next year. Nothing changes unless LBJ and AD get vocal to oust him…
Jeanie has a tiny circle and they are all morons and proven failures. She's scared to look outside her purple and gold box. Rob was Kobe's guy and Ham compliments here relentlessly in public. Both need to go. Neither will. Nobody's heads will roll.
The head who rolls is the guy that had talent like Christian Wood, Spencer Dinwiddie and Gabe Vincent coming off their bench and decided not to utilize them as scorers for the bench unit. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

The Lakers plan for the post LeBron era by going after another star. 2 of D'Lo, AR, and Rui are gone after being traded for Trae.
LeBron signs 1 more short term contract with LA.
If the Lakers can scrounge up enough depth behind those 3 using their limited assets, maybe the Lakers can contend while LeBron is still in LA.
I doubt it though. The Lakers have been awful at filling in the roster cheaply as of late.
Getting a 3rd star has been a consistent strategy for this team. They started the LeBron/AD era be clearing cap space for a max FA. They've been attached to various stars over the years. Westbrook was an awful attempt at that.

No words can truly express how sick I am of the LeBron/AD era of Lakers basketball. _________________ Everyting negative - pressure, challenges - is all an opportunity for me to rise.

Lakers will clear cap space to go after Luka Doncic in summer of 2025. What that means for this current group who knows? Hopefully dumping salaries this off-season to make it work

Ham has been terrible in game coaching.
Terrible.
He has the players but simply cannot take us to the championship because you need an excellent coach.

Maybe LeBron should tell the Lakers he won't re-sign with them unless they fire Ham and bring in a veteran, experienced head coach.
It would make LeBron look bad, but maybe it would make the team better if they replace Ham with the right guy.
Of course, I'm also afraid LeBron might tell the Lakers he'll only re-sign with them if they trade for Trae Young. Just say no to Trae Young. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers
