I'm not so sure what's so funny either. A season with LeBron & Davis will only make them all better. It's a process but folks want instant results.

If AD2 is willing to sign for what we can offer, we sign him before he blinks, and as you posted, warts and all.

What is funny is how "feast or famine" all these threads get to be. Of course it's a no-brainer to sign him to the mini-MLE if he accepts (huge IF). But do recall there has been lengthy and serious discussion about gutting the team (KCP, Kuzma, Gasol, Morris, Trezz all gone for free) in order to give him $12 million.

That wasn't the context in which I posted. It was whether signing him at all was the question. Gutting the team to provide him with a $12mil offer IS funny, in a nonhumorous was of course

Hard to believe I was so excited about a big in 2021 who neither spaces the floor, protects the rim, or completes lobs. His defensive awareness is mesmerizingly bad when you go back and watch his mistakes.

I'm alongside several fans hoping he looks good next to Lebron. As many said, we got him for free and his tools were needed given the injuries.

Sorry fellas, but I don't want to hard cap us for this guy. Aside for the Sissy's 2 footers, the million mini jumps for a rebound ( instead of a full jump and just grab it)

IT'S THE DEFEATED BODY LANGUAGE. THAT THING IS CONTAGIOUS!!

Sorry if it appeared my post was directed at you, it wasn't, it was directed at the massive swings of the pendulum in this thread and your use of 'funny' was too good to pass up : )

Preach.

Bron will be a huge difference maker because he's Bron. Not sure if Drummond looks any different - because his role will be exactly the same. Other drawing Drums defender on a drive and dishing for an easy bucket.

Lakers have a defensive rating of 112.7 with Drummond on the floor so far this year. Not the smallest sample size anymore either. 277 minutes.

104.5 in 878 minutes with Marc.

Why is this? Drummond? Vogel? Time? Combo?
Give it chance with Bron, he’ll yell the right spots to go, right on the floor

I think Trez is a big reason for it

You piqued my curiosity so I checked the nba.com lineup data.
Drummond has never overlapped with Trezz.

Gasol has spent most of his minutes on the court with LeBron and Davis. Most of Drummond's minutes have been without davis, and he hasn't played with LeBron at all.

When in doubt, blame Trez

I thought I'd do a quick apples-to-apples comparison. (Yes I know +/- is not a be all end all, but it's a quick sanity check)

Without LBJ or AD: (Total 20 games)
M. Gasol : 9 games, 156 minutes, +6
A Drummond: 7 games, 170 minutes, +2

With AD:
M. Gasol: 1 game, 18 minutes, +4
A. Drummond: 4 games, 106 minutes, -8

I wonder how much his toe is bothering him. The report was the nail on his big toe came completely off. I read it could take 6 months to 2 years for a nail to fully grow back.

Obviously I am not an nba player but I have run trails for years and have lost big toe nails. It’s a bit uncomfortable but it never stopped me.

I lost my big toenail as well when I dropped a weight on it. Doctor had to drill a hole through the top to expel the blood underneath...blood shot up a few feet after he used his little drill on it. Toenail eventually fell off. Felt ZERO difference with it off. Hurt like holy hell in the hours before I went to the hospital and my pain tolerance is extremely high. Felt fine as soon as the blood was expelled.

Drummond (bleep) sucks. Just gets eaten alive on defense all day long.

I would be surprised if he gets above the mini MLE this offseason.

all wanted a “athletic” big and then got a big like that and now there’s complaints when he doesn’t do exactly the things that Marc did.

Here’s something we can do real soon.

AD at the 5.
Interchange based on match ups if we need Marc or Dre.

It solves all those issues.

The issue is just time.

The season isn’t starting, but for us it’s like preseason. Do we have enough time? IDK. We need AD and Bron healthy and then we need to get the talent on the same page.

Yes we needed a 5. AD was out. Remember? The problem is Vogel’s mismanagement of the big man rotation. Trezz has never been a “center” to me. Too much of a defensive liability at the rim.

My hope (and over-optimism) before the season was that his offense would outweigh his (lack of) defense, at least against 2nd units. I've been disappointed and proven wrong.

If he plays this horrible in the playoffs Vogel will bench him.

Maybe. But if the round one opponent is someone like the Clippers, waiting until game 3 to bench him could be costly.

Adding Drummond was one move too many for the Lakers. Because he’s this shiny, new toy, the coaching staff has upended the entire rotation to incorporate him. And he’s gonna get some decent run before they come to the conclusion that he shouldn’t start. If they even come to that conclusion at all.

As a minimum player he’s fine. It’s the role I’m worried about. If he can be a supersized version of Dwight/JAV but won’t have the ego issue with sitting during closing time, he would be great.

That early blown dunk was the writing on the wall last night. Lebron and DS ran a beautiful pick n roll, enabling Lebron to spoon feed Drummond a ball that Dwight or JaVale would've slammed effortlessly. Instead Drum loses the ball going up and it leads to an easy lay-up for Sacramento.

I wanted Drummond, but I'm still not sure that he's a net positive over Gasol. Somewhat comically his offensive rebounding isn't even that valuable considering our awful half court offense.
