He’s really stepped up in recent games, if he can keep it up he will earn a extension from the Lakers FO.

Love how he eats up so much of the paint defensively and gobbles up boards

He needs a bit more of a nasty streak on offense would be my critique, dunk the ball instead of the layups/flip shots

Another good game for him, but weren’t the Pacers missing their two starting front court players Myles and Sabonis? He’s going to get a chance to show what he’s really got soon with the play in (possibly) and then the playoffs (hopefully) rolling up in a few days.

Drummond did good work on the boards again today and got very little help from his teammates on most of the rebounds. The missed layups and floaters are easy to pick at but he had another solid game. The team is no longer running any real plays for him offensively and he scored all his points on lobs, putbacks, and dunks at the rim. The coaches are learning how to use him a lot better.

We can't give him an extension. The most we can do is offer him a new contract at the taxpayer mle, which I believe starts about 6 or 7 million a year

Drummond has been making very good progress. I hope for great things in his role in this play-in and the playoffs!

So it will likely come down to choosing between playing for a contender or cashing in with another team.. thanks for the info.

Emplay said MLE for him would be somewhere near $9 million...whatever it is it's not enough to keep him...I like him a lot...but honestly for what he brings up front with AD he's not worth anymore than that for us. He might be a little better than Dwight for the role he plays here and Dwight can be had at $3 million.

What emplay said is we can give him 6 without much issue OR we can give him as much as 9 BUT ONLY IF we:
* trade KCP for nothing
* sign EITHER Schroeder for less than $19m/year (and let go of one of THC/AC) OR sign Harrell
* get rid of 2021 first rounder

Drummond hasn't exactly played himself into a big contract thus far.

Yup. I think a mini MLE may be enough to keep someone like him actually. Not sure what teams will be dying to overpay a non-shooting big.

Ah got it, so you're not in the camp that wants to pay him $9m

Not at the expense of KCP and letting AC or THT walk. $6 million is tops for me. I would then pursue Dwight or someone similiar.....like Holmes.

We might be able to afford him this off-season if this keeps up.

We'll definitely end up keeping him for cheap at this rate. Perhaps a dream scenario for Pelinka.

Against Dayton he will be useful. And we will need him and Gasol against Jokic. But tonight? Yikes. Played off the court.

He shouldn't have been out there offensively with this lineup playing the way they were, but he was getting after it defensively. He isn't a stiff out there defensively.
