Ironically, B-mac currently has a better DRtng at 102.6 than KCP at 107.9 of course it’s a small sample size as a Laker and he plays 10 mins less than KCP but still worth noting.

That’s an indictment of the DRtng then. BMac, from what I’ve seen, is a terrible defender.

Yep. McLemore is a shooting specialist off the bench.

He’s pretty easy to beat. Guys get past him pretty regularly...

Mac's defense is horrific. I'd give him rope for about 3 3s and if he's not hitting them, it's a night off for him. Frankly I still like Wes over Mac.

There have been some great discussions on LG about the various defensive metrics, their pros and cons, and how to use them (if at all) - I learnt a lot. Next time I come across a post like that I'll ask the mods to sticky.
(Basically many individual defensive metrics are *highly* flawed, some are better than others. Lineup/team metrics are better but even those have to be taken in proper context)

Guys like BMac make the game so simple when you add a healthy AD and Bron to the roster.

I like what he's been bringing lately - Have open shot, take/make open shot.

Valuable weapon off the bench.

Does anyone know what Mclemore's 3pt celebration is? He does it after every 3 he makes.

It's actually very annoying to me. He even does it when we're down big.

I don't think this guy gets enough love around these parts.

Dude's been money since he's been here. I'm just glad he didn't turn into those others who all of a sudden can't shoot when becoming a Laker. I also love that he has no conscious. BMac just shoots without thinking - which I think is part of his success.

Him sniping from 3 is gonna be absolute key in the playoffs.

I would prefer him taking those 3s than Kuz.

I wouldn't call him money. In his 17 games for us, he's only had 5 where he shot better than 33% from 3-point range. So he shoots badly much more than often he shoots well.

However, he shoots a ton of threes (way more per minute than anyone else on the roster). Because of that he occasionally has a game where he hits 5 or 6 threes. People tend to remember that more than they remember the more common 2 for 6 games.

Overall, he hits them at a decent rate -- 37.6% for us so far against a career average of 36.3%. The league average this year is 36.7%.

Don't care what the stats say he's deadly af and is capable of catching fire at any time. Also, the stats don't account for the defense he keeps honest. You rarely see him wide open like many of our other players. That space is exactly what LBJ and AD thrive on and if the defense does sag off him I have more confidence in him making a 3 then nearly every other player on our roster. There's a lot of context in that percentage imo.

You also have to remember he's a clear downgrade on defense so especially in the Playoffs they have to be a bit more careful what lineups they use him in especially if it's not a game he's hitting at a high percentage.

BMac is shooting 38.7% on 6 attempts with the Lakers. That's pretty damn good. Is he streaky....sure. But the bottom line is that even if he misses 4 in a row, teams still have to account for him at the 3 pt line. That type of gravity and the space he creates for guys like AD and Bron is gonna be hugely important moving forward.

It will be interesting to see who gets time when everyone gets back and the playoff rotation tightens.

I could see it going either way for Ben.
