Wait. Are you talking about the Shaq that screamed at Buss to "Pay me the f'ing money!"? Are you talking about the same guy that also said, "I get hurt on company time so I heal on company time?"
Shaq doesn't belong on that list. He's not a Laker IMO.

Why would the owner of a team put out such a list? To create controversies so the team would become the topic of discussion?
I'm a big Lebron fan but I still think she's dissing Shaq and the logo. I know Jerry kinda betrayed us but he's done so much for this franchise. She's got way too much free time on her hands.

Phil over Jerry West? Not much to argue there. Phil was the coach for 5 titles. Jerry went to 9 finals, losing 8 but putting it all out there.
Lebron over Shaq? Shaq brought the spotlight and 3 rings out of 4 tries to Staples with Kobe. Lebron has one. |

Be careful what you wish for. A James-Dolan or Jerry Jones-type could end up buying the team and then we'd really be screwed. At least Jeannie knows how to stay out of the way and let others make player personnel decisions. I wouldn't make too much out of that list. We all know Shaq and Jerry deserve to be on there, but if she doesn't mention lebron he may pout about it through the media and you don't want that |

I bet if you ask her in a private conversation she leaves Bron out of it. She said it to make him happy/feel special. I get the impression he would've felt sensitive about being left off, though as a student of the game he HAS to know that the Lakers have so many Goats who put in real time.

Objectively its hard to characterize her. On one hand, her heart seems to be in the right place and everything about her says she is good at her job in running the business side of the Lakers. On the other hand, she does appear ditzy and out of her element in running the Lakers and says some real oddball things that show a complete lack of persepctive like this comment. Nothing wrong to leave Bron out of this convo - in fact it is only right to leave Bron out at this time but she could cushion it by saying he still has time unlike the others to crack into this list |

I wont comment on her list but lets not understate the value Bron has brought. Rewind to pre-bron. He was the perfect player to represent us during Kobes death. His being here elevated us back to pinnacle of league.
Plus recency bias is a thing. |

I admit I didn’t care for a lot of what Jeanie did and how she did it. But she’s got a stable, functional, successful organization going and she’s also really really good on the marketing end. Including great personal touch with the fans and the sponsors and the players. So I have to tip my cap and give her her propers.
I’m gonna say she’s anything but a clown. And it is nice to see a successful woman in a male dominated space more than holding your own.

| This shows she holds a grudge, so she nots gonna do what is best for the franchise. She goes based on her emotions, which is bad for business. That's why we never see Jerry West back here, when he wanted to come back, both instances. |

1 know your context. She did not put out a list. She was asked on All The Smoke by Barnes and Jackson who her top 5 was. She even asked if her dad counted and they said don’t include him. Then she went wow it’s hard and mentioned Shaq and company because there’s so many lakers but if she had to pick her 5 it would be Phil because of everything he taught her, Kobe for everything he meant to her and how he helped her make decisions, Magic for being like a brother to her and what he meant to showtime and getting lebron, Kareem for what he meant to her dad, and lebron for what he meant coming to the team at its lowest, navigating Kobe’s death and the bubble, and winning her first title as the owner.
To spin what she said or the fact she took minutes to decide who to pick and didn’t side anyone at all is silly and trash by not just you but anyone who does that.
And realistically her 5 has this going for it
Phil - won more than Riley or any coach in history of the lakers or the league
Kobe - longest tenured ever, beloved, 5 titles, 7 finals, and multiple records including a 3 peat and back to back
Magic - Showtime, 5 titles, 9 finals, multiple mvps, and signed lebron
Kareem - multiple time mvp, first star that ever came to her dads lakers, all time scorer, Los Angeles basketball legend with UCLA factored in
Lebron - a guy in the goat debate, won a title with LA when the team missed the playoffs 6 years before, brought AD, and he made her the first female owner to ever win a ring in nba history
I mean damn. West was a good gm but he chose to leave and he only has as many titles as lebron has. Shaq 3 peated but he left the team as she pointed out in the same interview when Jackson and Barnes brought it up to her screaming and calling her dad a mf and saying pay me. And she willingly went to Boston and became a journeyman; he wasn’t on equal footing with Kobe or Phil at all |
