Seriously. I can understand one or two having a bad game; but the entire supporting cast played horribly. I wonder if Lebron puts too much pressure on them, or something. Did they give up on Vogel? What happened to our role players?

Role players don't know their role because teams never been healthy all season, Vogels running lineups that havent played games together very often and in general most of our role players are mediocre to begin with (targeted talents instead of well rounded players which is what most role players tend to be).

They seemed out of sync ever since Lebron got injured and they were never the same. They were doing fine before the Lebron injury. Once Lebron came back from the injury, there wasn't enough games for Lebron to re-establish himself and the roleplayers to re-establish themselves. Hence, the discontinuity in our offense.

Vogel never really developed a clean rotation and defined roles. He had a rough draw with the injuries and guys in free agent mode but he certainly didn’t help matters.

Like I said when Vogel kept "experimenting". He was acting like we had 5 weeks left in the season instead of 5 days.

No time to build lineup synergy, the Suns have a good defense, and they're shook without a dominant LeBron/AD in the playoffs.

There's no way Drummond wasn't forced on Vogel.

I can't defend Kuz but Bron needs to look within and develop a killer instinct. Game 4 after AD went down he should've rallied the troops and pushed hard but everybody coasted, him included.

Kuz is the easy target and he'll get slandered to hell and back the entire summer.

He had a horrendous game and there is no defending that but the Lakers were down 43-18 before they even started to try.

That's not all on Kuz but he's the low hanging fruit and he most likely will not be back and it will probably be the best thing to happen to him for the sake of his career.

The Lakers started acting a fool on the Suns in game 3 and everything went to hell after that.

Karma is a you know what.

The Suns just totally and completely destroyed the Lakers.

In all honesty anyone not named AD or Bron should not return next season.

Role players have to deliver when the lights get bright and every last one of them crumbled.

Actually, when THT finally got some minutes he did well. 11 points and 11 rebounds in 15 minutes in Game 5, and 12 points in 19 minutes in Game 6.
Vogel stuck with DS and AD2 way too long when they were obviously ineffective. In the series DS was rusty and THT was game ready but Vogel continued to start DS. He should have done the ballsy move and started THT like he did with Damian Jones. But DS then wouldnt resign. DS screwed us in and out of games.

they were uninspired.

blame it on AD being injured.. blame it on Lebron being uninspired himself.

Perhaps but nobody forced him to bench Gasol and not play him at the bench 5 and Harrell at the bench 4. His own players, media and fans even let him know about it. But he refused it. Because he wanted to keep experimenting with "Head of the Snake" Morris.

That's on Vogel.

Their game was exposed. They are exactly how they performed in this series.

The Lakers 2 top players aren't 100 % and the role players game goes south, when they are needed the most.

They're just not worth their asking price.

A part of me wonders if Kuzma has multiple personality disorder. He is so Jekyll and Hyde. One day he can be on the money and then he disappears for 3 1/2 weeks.

That, plus his frequent hair changes. I mean, talk about EMO.

Honestly not sure how their shooting just...went poof

The suns had an easy time defending as they dared the lakers to shoot deep and gave open shots and the team just couldnt find the net on any consistent basis.

Mind boggling to me. I wonder if any basketball coaches who post here have an answer. Its like a team wide batting slump. It infected seemingly everyone.

Our 3 point shooting was non-existent. As a result, opponent teams would just pack the paint.

Our offense sucks.

Health, continuity/chemistry, belief, role.

We brought in a lot of people in the off-season, including a couple who were supposed to carry some load and let Bron and AD coast a bit. We started off very very well. But the short turnaround and whatever luck you like to ascribe left us with two stars down a lot and not healthy when there from that point on.

And any team built around two Uber stars and role players isn’t going to be very good when the role players have to create and fill roles that aren’t theirs. It was a tough drag to and through the play in. Bron came back too early trying to avoid it and hurt himself again.

And even with all that they win the play in, and put their foot on Phoenix’s neck briefly. But the basketball gods took AD again. And the team was just too tired and beaten up (Bron and KCP out there on one and a half kegs) to hold on against a team that got hot and got back to believing in themselves.

The suns are a good team that deserves their seed and while the experience and matchups had the lakers winning that series, fate intervened and they weren’t the type of team to either roll over or not capitalize. So you tip your cap and you get some rest and you come back again.

So it goes.

Bingo ^100

Vogel never settle on a steady rotation pre & post injuries happening... too much experimenting.

I’m a big believer in the regular season being a process and especially for role players to gain their chemistry, etc. with stars and fit within team construct.

That’s why I hope the Clippers and Nets don’t win, it would de-legitimize the regular season.
