Russell, frankly, disagrees. Scott didn’t handle sophomore forward Julius Randle with the same kids gloves. “He’s an idiot,” Russell says of his coach.
Russell felt Scott often yanked him from close contests purely to spark controversy and attention for his postgame media availability. “I just think he was malicious for no reason,” Russell says. “He’s a solid man. But as a coach, he was bad. He was just bad at his job.”

DLO did nothing for the Lakers organization. Tank commander Byron landed us Ingram, who we used to get AD. For this accomplishment, I hereby retroactively promote him to Tank Brigadier General. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Who was a better player, D’Angelo or prime Byron?
Byron. No contest. He was every bit as clutch as “ice in my veins” — more electrifying (can DLO dunk?) — most importantly, he played defense. We talk about Byron as a borderline hall of famer, whether we should retire his jersey in the rafters.

Hard to judge because Byron basks in the reflected glory of Showtime. We'll never know if that made him seem better than he was or held him back.
That said, I'd give the nod to Byron. He was a 20 ppg. guy who led the league in 3-point shooting and led the Lakers in scoring on their way to a ring.
D'angelo has bounced around and put up good stats on terrible teams. He's only played in 5 playoff games in 6 years. That's not really on him, but he's played in very few games that mattered.
We could really use a 3-pt shooter like him. Could have entertained a S&T for DS if he wasn't making so much money. After watching the Clips/Jazz series, I have a thing for 3-pt shooters now. _________________ LeGoat! LeMazing! LeGend!
Russell was immature (what 19 year olds aren't?), and Byron was an old school hardhead who had trouble adapting to the modern game. It was a clash of two diametrically opposed personalities, and a match made in hell. Fortunately for Russell, coaches like Byron are getting phased out (see SVG's firing).
I do wish it worked out better for Russell. He gave us some memorable games. However, it seems like he's having the same mental lapses and injury woes in Minnesota.

I remember watching him in college.. man he looked dynamite.
Too bad about the maturity issues. With a better head on his shoulders, he could have been great.

He’ll go down as a mediocre PG on bad teams.
Do you think Russell ever could have been the next James Harden? He was so hyped on here at the time. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
I remember the outrage here when I compared DLO to Michael Redd, I think it’s safe to say DLO can only wish to have a Michael Redd type career _________________ #mamba4ever!

He could never be Harden because I don’t think his body would ever allow him to become Harden physically.
In college Russell just has that craftiness to his game. I thought he was going to be one of those players with an old school like touch to his game. And it never happened. He became a mediocre version of today’s NBA player.
I think a lot of it is maturity. Maybe some of it is the physically of the NBA. It’s too bad… because I really liked him as a player when he first came into the NBA. He’ll have a nice NBA career and make a bunch of money… but I don’t think he’ll win anything ever.

Bryon wasn’t exactly clutch. He was notorious for disappearing in the finals. His defense was certainly better than DlO but was not a shutdown guy. All the good scoring guards got theirs on him.
Also wasn’t nearly as good as a passer as D’Lo nor dribbler. Dunleavy said he couldn’t even piss with his left hand.
But he was a better shooter.. Bryon has an automatic shot from 20 ft and buried 3s, great on the break and could throw it down. _________________ Darvin
