Hopefully he can get used like he was signed to do, and not be relied on to play as many minutes, or at center.

Yeah the Melo center experiment has to stop, and soon _________________ #18 next...

Yup..hopefully when Ariza comes back, that experiment dies if we play small ball. He's perfect as a 4 though.
If he shot his average tonight we easily win… Wonder what’s going on his head right now. I’m pretty sure he didn’t expect to play the 5 when he signed with us, while having 2 bigs on the bench.
Yup, he is consistently bad on defense while inconsistent on offense. This is the inconsistency that you'd have to live with.
He is being asked to do too much… We didn’t sign him to be a defensive anchor playing the 5… Hate to say it, but a lot of our players are being put on a tough spot with all the line-up combos were throwing out there.
Melo/THT and even Westbrook. Westbrook has always worked better with a lob threat big. But we refused to do that when Lebron sits.
Have to give the man credit when it is due. His shooting has been much needed by this team. For the most part that has been consistent most of this season so far.
As for defense, surprisingly has some unexpected moments where he isn’t completely useless and uninspired on defense. Forcing him to be someone he is not by playing him as center or expecting him to rebound certainly does not help the situation though.
Still have a petty dislike of him as a player but will admit I love it when he hits a 3pt shot.
Does anyone else think his bad defense is contagious? Maybe we should rest him a month and see how the team performs.
Our defense was bad without him in Denver.
For sure, I think Melo has never been on an elite defensive team, and the role he plays (Kuzma) is not one he is able to do easily on defense.
The best thing for these "vets" is if Frank would cut their minutes by half. Give them shorter bursts and ask them to play as hard as they can. Give them a lot of games off, every 3rd or 4th game in a tough week. But because we've had so many other injuries and covid hitting the team, there just hasn't been this option.
Ideally, a guy like Melo is a 15 minutes guy, who plays 2 games a week for you. You rely on him in the playoffs situationally especially when teams zone.

I mean what is his plus/minus anyways even if we were to use him limitedly? It feels like even when he has a good shooting night, he's not contributing that much due to the fact that teams would relentlessly attack him on defense. Technically, if he makes a three and gives up a two, then that's a net positive but he's gotta make a lot of threes.
Yes that's it. In 15 minutes either he gets going from 3, and you're at a plus, or he's off and you're not relying on him.
Should be identical for WB. WB is a 25 minutes guy at this point in his career. He's a MLE level player for a contender. Not a single legit contender would even maybe start him, and even if they did, it's as if he's a MLE guy who gives you 25 high intensity minutes.
We have to stop treating these guys with respect as if they are stars, they are far from the stars they once were. The stars are Lebron/AD. That's it. I don't know if Vogel will lose his job over this BS, but I hope since it's pretty much a done deal that he's getting canned now or in the offseason, at least he rolls with the players that play hard for him.

Agreed. I got hounded for calling Melo out two months ago, when he started off hot. I said watch and see with him. Bad on defense and inconsistent on offense. I would rather give Stanley all his minutes.
"We locked in in the second half...we completely cut their water off and stuck to our schemes." @carmeloanthony
