You blame Melo for that? How about LeBron holding onto the ball as long as he did and then tossing it to Melo at the last second? _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Anthony -- -- “My legs wasn’t underneath me,” Melo said on that last three. Hey, we played him 28 minutes coming right off the injury. So, yeah, probably no legs on that shot.
His three ball was looking rusty in the first half, missing some wide open looks and finally banking one in. He did work that post for a couple of turnarounds early.
In the second half, the jumper started falling as he knocked down some big threes. Defensively, he was disruptive enough with some good hands that turned steals into scores.
He was scramming the smaller defenders out of the paint on rotations. He had a couple of offensive boards, one led to a three, the other to two some THT freethrows.
Overall, I’ll take these games from him. (Well, maybe not the tech he got in the fourth. We can’t afford those most nights.) But, yeah, doesn’t surprise me he had no legs in that final shot.
The Stats: He scored 18 points on 4-9 shooting to go with 5 boards (2 offensive), 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 block, 1 turnover and 3 fouls in 28 minutes. He was a -3.
When was the last time we had a pure shooter like Melo? Even at his age, his stroke is just money. Often you can tell when one's shot is off as it flies through the air, but with Melo, every one of his shots always look like they are going to hit.
Surprised people aren't talking about this guy some more.
He isn't that good. His defense sucks. His offense is inconsistent. He doesn't play to an offensive set. He occasionally makes shots from ball movement(not from him), and iso shots.
This guy is a problem.
Bench him and watch how much better we become.
u want us to complain about a vet minimum guy?
A vet guy putting up 15ppg 45% from 3....
Some spoiled fans in here...
Thats not even spoiled, that's intentionally not paying attention and flat out ignoring what's actually been going on and hoping someone doesn't actually check the stats to see how wrong they are.
So the ESPN tactic.
As a vet, I tried telling y'all about this guy
Continue yelling Melo next game when he goes 6/13, while playing no defense, and his offense limiting the ball movement.
His ball movement is slow and atrocious. Defenders already know what he's going to do. The offense is better needed elsewhere. Quick decisions and reactions to help Lebron and AD ultimately
His style of play is outdated. He's not young anymore using his athletic abilities to save the day. He's a liability.
Teams are going to continue targeting him in crunch time situations as he cannot guard the P&R. We need his scoring punch but his defense on that end is just going to kill us.
He's turning into a shot blocker this late into his career. His defense isn't perfect, but I think we have other issues than him _________________ 48 49 50 52 53 54 72 80 82

He's doing way better than I expected, I have nothing but respect for how he's played this year.
No one should expect him to bring it every game or to be effective as a primary or closing option at his age. Such usage is not his fault, it's the fault of the environment he's been placed in.

This NBA loser has brought that mentality to the Lakers. Iso Melo with no defense even for the "minimum" isn't worth it.
I don't post for a reason. Respect your LG elder who knows what he is talking about
If you check my posting history before this season I despised Melo just as intensely as you. I argued at length against the Lakers picking him up.
Thing is - he's accepted his role, he hasn't been a cancer on the team, and he's actually trying to play defense, in spite of his age, poor track record, and previous years' unwillingness to do so. His role is to be a sharpshooter off the bench, it's a limited role, he's accepted it, and he's trying to adapt his game to what the Lakers are asking him to do. And I don't hear him crying about his role and causing any problems in the press or the locker room.
I was spiteful on Melo before this season, but I'm objective when I watch. Better than already knowing everything.
Vs Melo: Htown ops shot 9/22 (41%)
Vs the Lakers Htown shot 51%
Only Laker players that allowed the ops to shoot less than 50% for the game were Melo & Reaves. _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

Melo has put in work this season and we should appreciate that. He's also been one of our better players this year.
I still think in a right sized role on a good team he's a two rotation player (aka under 20 mpg) with a second unit that needs a scoring threat in the half court. Even that role could be truncated in the playoffs. He's too easy to pick on defensively. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night.

Melo has never been a good defender, ever.
No one should dispute that. He is a scorer, who will fake it at the other end.
With that said, I have been pleasantly surprised by his game this year at both ends. He's not very good at defense but at times, he seems to try.

Yeah, the criticisms of our players are just hilarious
Carmelo should be taking more mid-range jumpers. His shot in the high post is poetry in motion, just a thing of beauty.

They target Melo and they target Reaves so naturally Vogel plays them together. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
Nice offensive game by Carmelo. He's still a ball-stopper and his defense is bad most of the time but he does fight hard on the boards.
STATS:
20 points (8-16 FG/ 2-6 TP / 2-2 FT), 7 rebounds, zero assists, +5
