Point guard: Russell Crowe, Kendrick Lamar, Rajon Ets
Shooting guard: Kent Tuckey, Wayne Gretzky, Malik Aziz
Small forward: Lebron Tosaurus, Trevor Noah, Talen Toesoup, Kent Tuckey
Power forward: Anthony Bourdain, Lebron Tosaurus, Carmelo Ball, Trevor Noah
Center: DJ Doc, Dwight Schrute, Anthony Bourdain

I'm really interested in how they slot Talen.

Dear God I hope Lakers don’t start a front court of Dwight/AD/LeBron with a backcourt of Russ/andjust1shooter.

PG.Westbrook / Nunn
SG.Ellington / THT
SF.LeBron / Bazemore
PF.Davis / Melo
C.Dwight / Deandre

I just hope LeBron and Davis can shoot well. Would be nice if West stsrted hitting 35% of his threes.

His career high over 13 seasons is 32.3%. I don't expect him to have some sudden dramatic improvement.

I'll be happy if he shoots over 29.9%.

If we can get him to take better 3's and trust LBJ/AD to generate looks, I wouldn't be surprised if it was close to career high %. Not holding my breath for league average.

I agree this is the most likely lineup.

But yuck at Westbrook, Lebron, and Dwight on the court at the same time. I’m already dreading it haha

What’s great is we have so many options. Not worried about the regular season much. Come post season we have depth at many positions. I nice defensive wing would be icing on the cake.

I agree with this although I think LBJ won't act as a "point" as much (maybe start posting up at PF more?). Westbrook could also operate out of the post too. Overall, I think a clear roster "hole" is the need change out Gasol's roster spot for a tall stretch SF/PF so that AD has to mostly play center and thus less LBJ and Melo at that position.

But, going with something like you suggest is really the way the Lakers should go. It would demonstrate AD's willingness to play center more since he is starting there. I also feel like there likely was some sort of conversation that Bazemore would get starters minutes if he agreed to lower salary. Coming off of an 9.5M deal and settling so quickly to take minimum deal at only 32 seemed odd. I would also expect the same sort of conversation happened with Nunn where he (not Rondo) is the first guard up off the bench unless he completely stagnates the offense. It's pretty important to keep the main rotation guys happy with minutes and both those guys are key to both RS and playoff success. Rondo, Trevor and Melo all definitely understand that wins are more important than minutes.

Lastly, on the issue some have raised on the recent (hefty) investment in THT and/or developing THT and Monk and even in having Ellington. The Lakers clearly are not about the future and all about the ring this year so I am guessing it is completely understood that no one cares if these guys play big minutes or not at least for this year. These are "break in the case of emergency" guys so whatever minutes they get probably is because of injury or resting the starters in games the Lakers have in hand already.

Bazemore made the veteran's minimum last year.

A reporter tweeted: "Bazemore turned down more money and years (two) from the Warriors, sources say, but believes he will have a bigger role and opportunity to win a championship with the Lakers. Bazemore is betting on himself."

It's hard for me to imagine that the Lakers guaranteed Bazemore starter's minutes, given that he signed at the same time as Ellington, Nunn, THT, and the other guys he'll be competing with for minutes. It's not like Bazemore is at a different level than those other players.

There are now three left-handed players on the Lakers roster. I don't recall any Laker team having this many left-handed players.

1. Nunn
2. Bazemore
3. Jordan

In terms of rotation I expect Vogel to take the long view, perhaps giving looks to guys where he thinks it will pay off in May and June. Principle among those should be THT and Nunn, who should see a bigger split of minutes over Rondo and Ariza than what might be the case if you were trying to win every game as your priority. I’m not sure if the same could be said of Monk over Wayne though. If Vogel has too many inexperienced players in the rotation at once, the execution will suffer. Maybe Monk’s talent will make him too hard to keep off the floor. But a successful year for him really should be about learning how to be a pro. Having Ellington as a vet mentor is probably a good place to start.

Monk has been in the league 4 years, so he really isn't inexperienced.

My guess is Vogel will experiment with combinations to see what works best.

He has a lot of options.

Hope this is not “the plan”. For limited mpg, against certain lineup maybe, but for extended mpg would be a disaster IMO

Also find it interesting to see so may projecting Ellington in the starting lineup.

IMO as it stands today… primary lineups but depth/ overlap for the long grind.

Jordan/ Howard/ Davis limited, as needed
Davis/ Anthony/ Ariza
James/ THT
Bazemore/ Monk/ Ellington
Westbrook/ Nunn/ Rondo

I think this is a great plan and it's reflective with all their signings. Just because Davis starts at the 5 doesn't mean he spends most of his time there. I anticipate he plays the "Mcgee" roll and plays first five minutes at the 5 and last couple minutes of the quarter to end games.

Davis / Howard - Jordan / Davis
Lebron / Davis / Melo / Ariza
Bazemore / Lebron / THT / Ariza
Ellington / THT / Monk / Bazemore / Nunn / WB
Westbrook / Nunn / Rondo

Yeah I’m not big on AD at the 5 either.

As LFR detailed in his Russ video, AD likes to hover out on the perimeter to defend guards with his foot speed. The take a jumper, Bron/Russ secure the defensive board and AD gets a high percentage look at the other end after he leaks out off the contested shot.

Having the perimeter defenders direct everything to the rim for AD to contest isn’t something I want him to do at a high volume. As a 4, he hovers the perimeter as a help man and plays almost a free safety type role instead of the rim protecting 5.

This should enable us to be more effective on the defensive end as well as get high efficiency shots on the offensive end...all while sparing AD (both health and foul trouble wise) from high contact driven plays (like contesting the ops at the rim) during the regular season.

FYI: in our title season, AD was 1st overall in bigs contesting perimeter J & 3line attempts per game (min 50 games played).

There's a lot of smoke behind this move and it makes so much sense. I actually think that shift means THT is going to get some serious run next year and might actually crack the starting lineup: WB, THT, Baze, Bron, AD. If the shooting becomes an issue, you can bring in Wayne or Monk as the second guard and either sit THT or sit Baze and move THT to the 3.

I was kinda annoyed at the DJ signing because I thought our center rotation would be Dwight and DJ with some minimal AD ... but now I'm thinking that Dwight and DJ will only be playing 15-25 minutes combined as backup to AD and they're basically insurance for each other (and AD) not meant to be a three-headed monster.

Very interested to see what this team looks like in training camp.
