LeBron can play his farewell role all the way to his retirement, whenever he wants to. AD and Westbrook are 3, 4 years apart in ages, both are still in their respective prime years. Seems the team plays with more energy with Westbrook and AD leading the way. I know won’t happen, but flipping LeBron for Ben Simmons or a ton of 1st round picks will be such a gangster move Jerry Buss would’ve done. Not sure the current Buss family has the balls to pull they off though.
This is what I expected from Westbrook... a solid replacement for LBJ when he got hurt, or when he needed rest.
I think they'd work really well as a tag team that could just exhaust defenses but I'm not sure if they will ever work super well at the same time.
If LBJ wasn't so dead set on playing his 35 plus minutes... he could really preserve himself and they could wear down better shooting teams with attacking energy in the playoffs.
Maybe this injury will scare some sense into him, and he will try to cut down to 30 minutes or less, but I fear he'll keep going with these high minutes and then that defeats the purpose of having Russ.
I like the idea of Russ with AD because Russ has the intensity that AD lacks.
I just fear by the time LBJ is done... so will Russ also be done... and I don't want to tie ourselves down to him for a big contract when he lacks the skills that LBJ and CP3 have to rely on when his athleticism finally diminishes.
He's not. His midrange and FT shooting have taken a dive. That' what made him effective back in the OKC days.
He was never a good midrange or any type of shooter. He actually is looking more so to be effective in other areas of the game; rebounding and passing because he could score at will.
Maybe it’s the way Buss family pamper aging stars. LeBron now has that Kobe in him (the bad version) during the last few years of Kobe’s career. Which are ultra ball dominant, refuse to rest, trying to proof he’s still got it at the expense of the team. End result is his always hurt and never 100%.

This seems like a rather odd interpretation of the MVP leader getting torpedoed by a clumsy reckless Solomon Hill.

What’s done is done. It was unfortunate they happened to LeBron, but they does not make it reasonable to center the tram around him when he’s clearly not going to be 100% ever again.

I think you are a captive of the moment because they both just had a good game against a bad team.
Westbrook is turning 33 soon. He's well past his prime; he didn't make the all-star team last year and I doubt he will this year. The only question is how quick and steep his decline will be. I don't expect him to still be here in two years after his current contract runs out. He isn't the nucleus of the future.
AD is a great player, but I am not sure if he is the #1 guy on a good team.
Lebron, for all his decline, is still better than both of them. Trading him for Simmons would be silly in my opinion. AD/Westbrook/Simmons as your big three doesn't get past the second round.
