Indeed |
And it will continue….
Do many of you think the oldest team in the league will all be healthy to get for a good portion of the schedule?
We already got a star collective that has a ton of burn on their legs. On top of that, Bron is about to be 37. He joins Melo, Dwight, Rondo & Ariza in the 35y/o+ club. Most of those guys will also be heavily relied on in the postseason. AD has a knack to get injured and an about to be 33y/o Russ has a chronic knee condition tracing back to a meniscal tear in 2013 (ie more susceptible to arthritic pain within 10 years of injury).
https://www.sbnation.com/2018/9/12/17851948/russell-westbrook-knee-injury-surgery-history-thunder
Ironically it was our young boys that have all been on the IR, but get use to it fam….we will be dealing with a revolving door of injuries all year due to the injury history and age of our collective.
This was bound to happen when you round out the roster with vet mins (unnecessarily to avoid a heavier tax hit). Again, the vet min dudes are available for a reason. Some due to their issues with durability. |
the thing is that even the young guys were hurt a lot. BI, Lonzo, DLO, Randle(freak accident), etc.
bad luck? bad training stuff? |
Kind of ironic BI is currently injured, DLO and Hart has already missed games this season, Lonzo has been more injury prone than Lebron, AC missed 20+ games last season, Many 20ish age players are getting injured year over year. One contributing factor may be that many of these youngish type players are either playing or training year round which takes a toll on their bodies and eventually causes persistent and chronic injuries.
|
I think it's the extracurriculars these guys get involved with during the off season. Way more seem to come into camp pudgy instead of cut. |
Interested if you can list some players coming in out of shape. I can't really think of any Laker these past 2-3 seasons except for Marc Gasol. AD came in sluggish last season but I felt his body never recovered from the bubble title. Zion stands out Some come in bigger due to strength training, at least that is one of the excuses Celtic fans use for Tatum's poor shooting %'s.
I always felt Kuzma could have tightened up his body like AC did and though he did miss games he seemed to be the least affected by chronic type injuries. |

DOUMBOUYA ACTIVE
Per Faigen
Sekou Doumbouya will be active tonight. Jay Huff will not. Frank Vogel says Anthony Davis and Malik Monk may initiate some offense with no other points guards outside of Russ available tonight.

FROM TOO MANY GUARDS...
Per Oram
Frank Vogel points out that with injuries Lakers only have one true point guard tonight: Russell Westbrook. Expect different looks with multiple initiators. He mentioned Malik Monk specifically.
https://twitter.com/billoram/status/1458606553523654657?s=21
Per Trudell
LAL have only 10 players available tonight, including 2-way player Sekou Doumbouya.
Starters: Westbrook, Bradley, Bazemore, AD and Jordan.
Subs: Carmelo, Ellington, Monk, Doumbouya and Howard.
LAL are especially short at PG. When Russ isn’t on the floor, it’ll be by committee.

MORE ON THT AND NUNN
Per Faigen
THT is only currently playing 1-on-1 and 2-on-2, and Frank Vogel's update on Kendrick Nunn's bone bruise was even less encouraging.
“They determined that to be safe, given the area in the knee that it was, that he needed to be off it for some time.”

A NOT GOOD UPDATE ON REAVES - ICYMI
SMH
Per Trudell
Further testing on Austin Reaves revealed a strained left hamstring. He’s out for at least 2 weeks, when he’ll be reevaluated.
Undrafted and converted from a 2-way deal, Reaves has been a major bright spot off the bench, ranking 2nd (to Monk) on the team in net rating (8.2).

Preliminary Injury Report
Quote: | Jovan Buha @jovanbuha
Lakers’ injury report for tomorrow against Minnesota: — LeBron James, Austin Reaves, Kendrick Nunn, Talen Horton-Tucker and Trevor Ariza are out — Rajon Rondo (left hamstring strain) and Sekou Doumboya & Jay Huff (two-way contracts) are questionable — Anthony Davis is probable pic.twitter.com/qOtuQSIkTV |
Forecasting injury report: 33y/o Russ & 28y/o AD are the oldest tandem to put up the most minutes in the season so far…they are in the top 10 in PT.

Actually same injuries. Rondo and Reaves were the last folks added to the injury list. Rondo has been upgraded but then it looks like Reaves injury is worse than they said it was originally. |

As previously reported by vasashi17
Here's a post with the press release
Per Faigen
As expected, the Lakers have added Austin Reaves to the list of guys who are out. Rajon Rondo is still questionable. Frank Vogel told us he was day-to-day.
Also as expected, LeBron is still out tomorrow vs. the Wolves.

DR BRAR ON REAVES
(Again hasn’t examined Reaves personally, Dr. Brar writes on sports injuries as that’s his field of expertise)
Per 3cbperformance
My latest for @LakersSBN detailed Lakers' rookie Austin Reaves' hamstring strain, return timeline scenarios, and why it's not a surprising occurrence

INJURIES TAKIN A TOLL ON THE OLD FOLKS
Reason or excuse?
Per Trudell
One thing all these LAL injuries has done: increased the minutes for some of the veterans that weren’t supposed to be on the court this much. Carmelo Anthony, in Year 19, played 37 min. vs. CHA and 38 vs. MIA, both OT games.
He’s 1 for 12 tonight, and been short on several J’s.

This is BS by Trudell. Can’t have it both ways.
It’s just not a good team right now. No injury excuse.
There are teams who continue to win. It’s actually embarrassing when you think about it because AD and Russ are still playing in these games. |
