KYRIE IN PROTOCOL

Relevant to Christmas, unlike most players for Kyrie this is probably a move towards getting him ready for active duty again. Because he hasn't been in or out of protocol he really hasn't been in the league so if you did not see the previous tweet see the previous tweet to see what I'm referring to.

Per Shams

Nets star Kyrie Irving has entered COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

https://twitter.com/shamscharania/status/1472262032640593930?s=21

Or as Woj restates

Per Woj

Irving needs five consecutive days of negative tests to join the team at practice. Now, he’s the ninth Brooklyn player to enter into protocols.

LAKERS VS COVID

I can't even sleep in a little bit on a Sunday yall.

Per Goon

Lakers coach Frank Vogel is now in the NBA’s COVID-19 protocols, as is Kent Bazemore. David Fizdale assumes head coaching duties in Frank’s absence.

https://twitter.com/kylegoon/status/1472605608222371844?s=21

Per Oram

The Lakers currently have 8 players out with either injury or in protocols (or in Kendrick Nunn’s case, both). If nothing changes, they would have 10 active player tonight, but plan was for Ariza to only suit up and not play, so really just 9.

https://twitter.com/billoram/status/1472605728728776705?s=21

Per Woike

Players/coaches to enter protocols for the Lakers over the last week:
- Talen Horton-Tucker
- Dwight Howard
- Malik Monk
- Phil Handy
- Avery Bradley
- Austin Reaves
- Kendrick Nunn
- Kent Bazemore
- Frank Vogel

Russell Westbrook also entered/exited the protocols this week.

https://twitter.com/danwoikesports/status/1472601516028661765?s=21

Per Trudell

Available players for the Lakers include:
- Regular starters: LeBron, Westbrook
- Bench rotation: Ellington, ‘Melo
- Out of regular rotation: Rondo, Jordan
- Two-way @SouthBayLakers players: Brown and Huff
- Ten-day hardship exception: Thomas

It's pretty much in two sections now

Out due to injury:
Anthony Davis
Trevor Ariza
Kendrick Nunn

Health and Safety Protocols:
Kent Bazemore
THT
Avery Bradley
Dwight Howard
Malik Monk
Austin Reaves
Frank Vogel

That's 9 Players + Head Coach, out.

Available Players:
Guards:
Russell Westbrook
Isaiah Thomas
Rajon Rondo
Wayne Ellington

Forwards:
LeBron James
Carmelo Anthony
Chaundee Brown

Centers:
Deandre Jordan
Jay Huff

Need 8 Healthy Players to keep a game from getting canceled. The Lakers have 9.

ARIZA FEELIN OK

Per Trudell

Trevor Ariza said that for the most part, “I felt pretty good” physically in his first game back after weeks of rehabilitation on his ankle.

The speed of the game takes a minute to catch up to, but he clearly knows where to be and when.

https://twitter.com/lakersreporter/status/1472781355805249537?s=21

Per Goon

Ariza said the Lakers originally wanted to bring him back around this time, but because of travel and the cancelled practice on Tuesday, he hasn't gotten a lot of live reps, so the team wasn't sure if he would be ready to go ... until today, when the Lakers needed him.

AVOIDING A SHUTDOWN AT ALL COSTS

Per Woj

The NBA and NBPA have reached an agreement on additional replacement players for teams, sources tell ESPN.

https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1472782338669129730?s=21

Per Holmes a couple of days ago

NEWS: In an effort to hopefully avoid game disruptions, the NBA and NBPA are discussing a plan that would require teams decimated by COVID to sign additional replacement players. ESPN story with @wojespn:

https://twitter.com/baxter/status/1472018942319161344?s=21

Per Shams

Sources: NBA teams will now be required to sign one replacement player when they have two positive tests on the roster. For three positive tests, two replacement signings are required. For four positive results or more, three hardship signings required.

https://twitter.com/shamscharania/status/1472783711523459073?s=21

big change on 2-way Players

Per Shams

Another key note in NBA's roster rule changes for flexibility amid pandemic:

Two-way players -- who previously had 50-game max -- now have no limit on the number of games they can appear in, sources said.
