nice win... Morant was impressive... Memphis needs to give him some shooter...
Bane - terrible
JJJ - terrible
Adams - good rebounder, that's it
Melton - is ok
other than that, Memphis is not too good.
They are missing Dillon Brooks... They were on a back to back tonight too.
Brooks won't be enough... there's is no guarantee he'll be the same. might be a fluke last postseason.
other than that, they're gonna run Morant to the ground. reminds me of those Kobe teams when he really didn't get any help
Brooks is no fluke. Every year but his second year where he got hurt he’s been consistent. He’s their best perimeter defender and other scorer. I’m not saying he’s enough, but he’s damn sure consistent nightly and brings it alongside Ja
He was pretty active tonight and caught me off guard tbh lol.
As far as scoring he’ll forever be an instant bucket.
Frank used him how Team USA used him. They kept him close to the basket defending and even on the big. Last game in the 4th they had Melo on Ayton and Bron on the 4. This game late Melo rotated on Adams and AD roamed at the 4. Melo I strong enough to push any big back. He did that with Team USA too because in the words of Kobe, down low he’s a bear. You can attack him far out but ina contest where he gets to use his arms instead of his feet he can defend. Woodson used him that way too that year with Kidd and Sheed
Ok, I will curb my criticism a bit then until I see more of what Vog doing with him...I really wanted to see Reaves out there tbh, and was agitated at Baz getting wrecked by Ja. Then peering over and seeing Melo out there made me say wtf _________________ "One thing I admire about Kuzma is his unwavering confidence. but that rebound, spelled the difference between being up 3 and being up 1 late in the game.
butterfly effect.

Memphis certainly hopes so... we'll see. _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups. I dont know how this team is getting killed on rebounds... Grizzlies out rebounded us by 10 and 9 on offensive rebounds. Killed in second chance points too.
Honestly, outside of Russ, our vets don’t crash the board as much as younger players
It's boggling because LBJ, AD, Russ can all rebound. You technically also have 2 bigs who can rebound. When we grabbed Russ, one of the biggest rationales posted by many was we will be physical and bully folks with strength, getting boards, etc...isnt happening. _________________ "One thing I admire about Kuzma is his unwavering confidence. Too many second chances points and points in the paint for Memphis. Also, we really need a defensive player. Sorry but Bazemore and Ariza will not cut it.
The end of that game frustrated me so much that I immediately turned off the TV after that three-shot foul. I'm glad we got the win, but there's so much wrong with our beloved Lakers. _________________

That's part of the learning right there... It's the first time this season Lakers were in that situation. Nothing a couple of adjustment can fix. They will learn a lot from this game specially on those closing moments.
I'm surprised they played the foul game at the end there, despite us not being a good FT shooting team.

Lakers are gradually looking better game by game. Westbrook is looking more and more comfortable out there and is making a positive impact.
Yeah, he's not shooting well, but it reminds me of how Jason Kidd was a bad shooter for a long time. Kidd would often shoot something like 6-of-15 but have lots of rebounds and assists and up-tempo the game, and all that would make up for his poor shooting.
Unexpectedly, our 3-point shooting is lit so far this season.

Melo shooting lights out tonight really reminded me of 24 🥺🥺🥺
Crazy to say right since we’ve had Lebron and AD going off these past three seasons for our Lakers.
It’s just Lebron and AD really mixed it up with banging in the paint as they are hybrids and can play that traditional big man as well.
Melo tonight did it purely with his marksman shooting.
I feel we haven’t seen his type of lights out gunning since Kobe.
Maybe a few instances with DLo and BI but even then Melo’s performance tonight trumps them. Historically by passing Moses Malone on the all the scoring list and clutch timing during the game.
The Melo chants erupting throughout Staples Center tonight gave me some goosebumps knowing Bean up their smiling down 🙏🏀🙏🏀🙏🏀
Man that finish felt way too intense for game #3 of 82+, but a win sure does feel nice!
We played 3 playoff locks, with MVP candidates.
Curry - Warriors (Top 6 west team)
Paul/Devin - Suns. (Top 4 likely)
Ja Morant - Grizzlies. (Top 6 likely)
All 3 teams will be in the playoffs, and have MVP level point guards. It's crazy how tough these 3 games were on the schedule to start out. I even think last year's team likely ends up 1-2 if we rest AD/Bron as much as we did in the preseason. We barely played in the preseason.
I go to the game and the Lakers win. This is all I'm saying.
Someone get TD season tickets! _________________ "One thing I admire about Kuzma is his unwavering confidence. He truly has no idea that he’s not as good as he thinks." - Killer_Z
