This.

Unfortunately true. This team is basically a bubble team at this point, no better than 8th seed.

Jury out for me until we see tht and co back but the idea that lbj can take breaks with russ in? So far has had huge holes. This team right now is a discombobulated disaster. Losing big leads in a week vs a lotto bound team is inexplicable to me.

Westbrook +6 and AD -12?....

Baze/Monk/Rondo/Ellington combined for a total of 7 points in 60minutes....

Why everyone blaming Westbrook?

Truth. Tried to be a hero and lost the ball and wanted to be a hero and misses a 3. Hope this shows Russ Lebron is the Alpha.

Russ is an alpha without any of the skill or consistency to back it up.

Like Kobe pretty much said about that kind of mentality, if you win and elevate your team you're a champion, if you can't and lose then you're just being an a-hole.

On the 2019-20 team, I thought Rondo was unfairly criticized.

This season, he looks cooked.

I’m not blaming Westbrook, the Lakers were outcoached in the end. You could see the confusion on Vogel’s face. But to be fair to him, he has to work with what he was given.

Vogel has to have money riding on Laker opponents with the idiotic rotations he trots out. Or he's simply a moron.

Win or lose this Lakers team has no sustained defensive identity

Why would you conclude that was a coaching choice? Russ walked away from the inbounds so someone else would have to pass him the ball, dribbled to the frontcourt and took the shot.

Truth
Yup he wanted to be the playmaker and definitely wasn't willing to inbound that. Disappointing and frustrating. Hope he gets called out in the locker room. Maybe some fire will wake this team up.

If a coach cannot decide what happens on the court in the final play when it matter, he is of no use and should be let go. Period.

The coach drew up the play for Carmelo on the previous possession.

There was no timeouts left on the last possession and Russ took it himself. How is that Vogel’s fault?

Dr. Rajpal Brar, DPT
@3cbPerformance
Lakers are playing like a team that has margin for error when they currently - for a number of valid reasons - don’t have any, compounded by Vogel somehow not realizing that and attempting to play mismatched survival lineups that kill all the hard work up to that point

https://twitter.com/3cbPerformance/status/1456488619443560458

exactly that

Because +/- is often a pretty meaningless stat. Malik Monk was +6 too. Did he impact the game at all?

WB ain't the only one to blame HOWEVER.

Crunch time stats dude had like 2 crucial TO's and a bricked 3. This is your (bleep) PG playing out of control. He played out of control first half as well contributing to the dwindling lead.

WB takes a huge chunk of the blame. So does Vogel.

Letting Go
@ProvideContext
Dwight got 8 minutes. 1-1(2 pts). 2 steals, 1 blocks, 4 rebounds. + 8.

DAJ - 14 min! 0-2. 1 point. 3 reb. 0 blocks. 0 steals. 1 TO. 1 Tech.

When you’re sabotaging your own team, you’re not serious about winning that game.

Oh and AD doesn’t look like a top 7 player anymore.

He’s becoming too much of empty stats. Not impacting the game like he did in ‘19-20.

He came out like he wanted to dominate, then just disappeared after that 1st quarter…started fading away again.

The worst part is outside of Melo and Reaves they’re painful to watch. Westbrook is a mason out there. AD disappears for long stretches. Baze is terrible on D and is also starting a masonry apprenticeship out there. Monk is just aggressively bad. DJ is straight up stapled to the floor most of the time unless it’s a dunk. Is he wearing ankle weights out there? Lebron plays his patented statue defense out there most of the time. They’re a straight up train wreck right now. If a team like Thunder comes back on you twice like that it’s gonna be a long and miserable season.

Lakers lose 107-104 to the thunder. This time blowing a 19 point second quarter lead.

Unfortunately what I said somewhat jokingly is eerily proving true: you can basically get any 5 average nba guys (backups) put them on the floor vs the lakers and they will give the Lakers problems. This team’s insistence to run for russ is making them defensively inept imo, and offensively so chaotic that they cant reliably score.

I got nothing else here. Not looking forward to this next stretch of games. This team may end up under .500 before lbj gets back if they dont get their act together.

We all know coach will be blamed and if they lose enough he'll be canned but let's be real Russ was going to take that shot no matter the coach.

This was a coaching staff loss. The team is always looking to improve the players. Why do they settle for bad coaches? They should be striving to improve the coaching staff with changes as often as they change the roster.
