Yep, and he recently turned 28. So he will turn 33 in the middle of his first free agent year. Kind of sucks for him. A late bloomer, and I guess we manipulated his service time well. |

The Giants lost 1-0 to the White Sox and are now 7.5 games back. Padres now 3.5 back. It would be awesome if we could somehow get a sweep and push the Padres to 5.5 back, but even winning 1 of the next 2 in this series would keep the lead at 3.5 and would mean we took 3 of 4. |

Tony is scaring me with how good he is so far. Nobody expected this. I hope he can keep it up. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

It will be a glorious day when the Giants are at least 10 games back. I want to see them roll over and go away. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Joc with some comically bad outfield defense and the Giants now trail 1-3 even though Webb is dealing. You love to see it. |

Well this is most unexpected! Even Muncy almost hit one out in that inning. |

Trea actually looked safe there - I'm guessing Roberts doesn't want to waste a challenge up 5. |

Going for the 4-game sweep tomorrow! Would put us 5.5 up. Giants now 8.5 back. |

Dodgers going with Trea hitting 2nd now with Freddie 3rd. At least Trea stays in front of Freddie, I do like that better than hitting Trea 3rd. Also, Austin Barnes has agreed to a two-year extension. He was scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the year. The Dodgers certainly value his catching and leadership. I heard Mookie on the broadcast Friday on Spectrum say that Barnes is basically the captain in the locker room. |

Hmmm doesn't look good for us keeping Cartaya as he'll remain blocked at the big league level until 2025. Could be an enticing piece of a Trout or Soto package I suppose.
Unless the plan is for Smith to move into a more permanent DH when JT retires. |

yeah I knew Betts wouldn’t relinquish the leadoff spot and Dave Roberts is too scared to make him. |

Will Smith is here until after 2025.
Barnes is here until after 2024.
I don’t think Cartaya is ready in 2023. I think his ETA is 2024.
It does lineup though (not perfectly but decently). At most 2 yrs of overlap? |

Quote: | The New York Yankees, off to one of their best starts in franchise history, moved ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers this week and for the first time this season are favorites to win the World Series at sportsbooks around the nation.
The Yankees enter July as the World Series favorites at +400 at Caesars Sportsbook, followed by the Dodgers at +450. It's the first time since July 24, 2020, that the Dodgers have not been World Series favorites during the regular season, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

That was a mistake to send Betts there. Profar has a strong arm, the ball was lined hard, and he was out from me to you, not to mention that Mookie is just coming back from an injury. If it's a weak left fielder, I get it. You have to know the personnel. In that situation, shouldn't have forced the issue.
Ebel doesn't have good judgment. |

Giants losing to White Sox 6-0.
If we win today wow. We’d pick up 4 games on both SD and SF. How crazy is that? It’s like a 4 game sweep vs both teams. |

Lux should try to steal here. Righty now on the mound, and if he gets thrown out, Betts gets to lead off the next inning. This is where he has to go. He would 100% go if this were 1990. Reward is far greater than the risk. |

Of course he never moves. I just don't like how passive we play. Lux flies. What is wrong with sending him there? He's probably 85-90% going to steal the base. If he gets thrown out, OK, you get the top of the order up in the next inning.

Seven shutout innings for Kershaw. Reaches his high pitch count of the year, still under 100 though. Fastball sat 91-92 all day. He's pitching as well as we can reasonably expect. ERA under 2.60 now. |
