Your headline is completely misleading. This is the biggest problem in the US right now. Nobody want's to be neutral, nobody wants to use common sense and logic. People just pick one side and push their agenda. So the agenda here is to hate on cops.

Yes, 9 shots is pretty aggressive, but he was not fearing for his life, he was fearing for the lives of the public. The guy was wielding a knife and wouldn't stop, proceeded to go to another store. The cop was probably thinking, "Is this guy gonna start stabbing people?" Not fearing for his own life. This is truly one of those stupid games, where you win stupid prizes.

A speech about being neutral and not picking sides.

I'll bet that officer could have tipped that dude's wheelchair over instead of endangering the lives of innocent citizens by firing off 9 bullets in public

The stupid prizes won were only because the prize giver was stupid
He didn't have to murder him. Hopefully they don't murder all humans who are having a psychotic episode

How many opportunities did the cop have not to murder?? Zero??
The cripple was 61 years old..was it Arnold Schwarzenegger..or was the cop a big (bleep)? Murdering a citizen because you can makes you a disgusting coward

If you can't think of any alternative to nine gunshots to stop a cripple from rolling his wheelchair into a store.. please don't comment about policing.

Great point. Didn’t think about this. The victim was supposedly at the entrance door of Lowes.

Firing 9 bullets in that direction is so dangerous.

did the cops know for sure he was wheelchair-bound? or just using it as a vehicle? That is a thing.

What's misleading?

Common sense dictates a man in a wheelchair isn't a real threat to stab anyone. A person would have to approach him and make themselves available to be harmed. Who would be that foolish? A danger to the community is nonsense.

This officer should be charged. I'm not a lawyer so I don't know what the charge should be. I'm thinking of Negligent homicide. There is no excuse for this non ambulatory man to be shot in the back 9 times.

And clearly the police officer wanted him to put down his knife, so he simply followed the given instructions. What, exactly, is the problem here? Should we all just be able to take things from others with no repercussions whatsoever? No wonder the crime rate in California is so high with this kind of reasoning.

The cop was fired, Suburban Dirty Harry. Not even the Tuscon PD are as bloodthirsty for extrajudicial executions over a stolen toolbox as you.

Good to know you fantasize about double tapping the dome of someone who might steal a shovel out of your garage, though.

Well, my opinion is my opinion and your opinion is your opinion. Both opinions are equally valid.

That’s not how that works at all. Having an opinion or even a right to one doesn’t lend any validity to it, much less a nakedly callow opinion like that one.

The story is Pierce allegedly pooped his pants and didn't want it to be seen because it would embarrass him thus the wheelchair exit. LINK

Regardless of what the cop was "fearing", there's no way in hell that lethal force was justified in that scenario. If that cop is so unprepared, under-trained or unwilling to understand that, he shouldn't be wearing a badge or carrying a weapon.

Wow. Never heard that. IMO that’s at least a valid reason vs faking it.
