Don’t @ me. Regardless if we take them seriously, a huge contingent of people on both sides do. I put mark kriski on the same level as don lemon.

In regards to hannity, he was smart claiming to be an entertainer. He told the idiots who watch him he isn’t there for truth.

I found cuomo entertaining. I get why they had to release him, but being a brother I also get why he did what he did.

I gotta admit, I have some respect for a guy who can spend this much time castigating people trying to do some good while defending reprobates, and all with a straight face.

CNN, MSNBC, BBC, even FoxNotNews are news, at least to me (whether they’re not always factual)
Bill Maher, John Oliver, Trevor Noah are entertainment to me (even if they’re more factual)

The expectation should be when you tune into a show called headline news or the like, facts are all that should matter.

When you tune into a name based show Lemon tonight etc. you can only expect opinion.

Covid changed that a bit because if a health care official is on any show facts are all that should matter.

Maher is tough for a lot of people because he’s an elitist that speaks a lot of truth but for some getting past the pomp is tough.

Why not @ you? Don't get yo panties in a bunch.

You're saying how YOU see things, ignoring how others see them. News anchors are positioned to where what they report is SUPPOSED to be valid. Entertainers are in musicals, movies, circuses, etc. Hannity reports are damaging because they're believed by some. To me, he's Rush Limbaugh in disguise. THAT AIN'T RIGHT!!!

my panties are certainly not in a bunch. My point was that the minute Hannity said he was an entertainer, he protected himself. Obviously, if you fly under a flag of "news" you should try to be factual but he made it clear he only needs to entertain.

Hannity, Lemon, cooper, maddow, reid, Ingraham are all entertainers first. Clearly, Maddow has the most integrity IMHO but if someone solely gets their news from her they probably arent getting everything. You go to these people for storytelling and perspective. Half of Rachels show is opinion based on information. Hannitys is just opinion.

we are all smart enough to decipher whats real and not. I assume we all have multiple sources, but for a huge contingent Im sure people take what Joy reid says as gospel and the same with Ingram.

Did he make that clear to the public or privately? If it was in private he didn't clear/protect himself.

Again, you're speaking for others. I don't go to them for storytelling and perspective. I go to them for news. News about what going on in the world. I expect their reports to be valid. Their opinions are theirs, I accept or reject them.

All is entire. I'm almost sure you've seen or know some that are easily fooled. Those some are a part of the problem. Those are the reason I feel Hannity is harmful. He's doing more harm than good. I'm thinking you know that. You seem to be intelligent, I dub you opinionated, which is JMHO.

I'm on board with multiple sources. Valid sources report news not opinions deeming them to be valid and believable. Gosple is subjective.

So, because someone crosses the line regarding a story involving a close relative--to which they distanced themselves and did not report on--they are no longer a journalist?

Fwiw, Hannity plays the same game Limbaugh used to, where he says he’s an entertainer in polite company when pressed about his journalistic dearth, but plays it as the straight scoop to his audience, because he knows none of them are likely to have seen him say the other, and even if they have, they write it off.

So many of them beyond Hannity too, but now, I think even if they know he, and other Fox/conservative media types, are up front up about their non-hardnews-ness, the cultishness of many or most of their viewers/consumers take it as hard news, as facts. Trump too, they just believe what these people say, either viewing it as containing a kernel of essential truth, all the way up to every single thing they said, or even suggested, is gospel. That's a scary place. That the Greg Gutfeld guy makes money saying or doing anything at all in public still blows my mind. Then that he and others on Fox or conservative media are actually so successful at this ratings-wise is just depressing. I am curious if younger conservatives actually watch this Fox news stuff or have other sources that are huge or even huger than Fox News on whatever platforms.

Fwiw, I find the man repulsive, and do believe there was cause for his termination based on the facts as reported. Still, I have empathy for him and do not support him being "canceled" or not having opportunities outside of his CNN show based on him trying to help his brother cover up his bad decisions.....family is family.

Don’t buy the looking out family angle. If that’s the case then he should have publicly stepped down from his position, instead of doing puff pieces on his brother and having him on for interviews ad nauseam, while simultaneously helping him behind the scenes. He failed as a journalist not to mention as a person.

Even short of that, he could have stepped up and said that due to conflicts of interest, he would not be covering the story and would leave that to other CNN hosts to discuss. That he used his airtime to pro-actively defend his brother -- well, that's a bridge too far.
