2018– Paul George
2019– Kawhi, Butler, Kemba Walker

The end result would have been the same for each of these scenarios: People on LG would be complaining that whatever decision we made doomed the franchise for at least 10 years and we should have done something else. |

If PG or kawhi, I’d say 2 if them and lebron/ad were all healthy |

I'll go with 6 rings. Woulda-coulda-shoulda rings are really easy to win, after all. Every team has at least a dozen of them. |

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but I remember Klay was a huge target of Laker fans a few years back.
He's like the quintessential 3rd star, who else is more perfect? Two-way player, not ball dominant, can legit put the team on his back if necessary, doesn't shy away from the moment...
If only.... |

Yeah, imagine if Danny Green was actually a deadly shooter… It would have been an unstoppable trio. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

George would have been the perfect fit. I refuse to consider Kawhi, the fantasy world doesn’t exist where he would be Lebron’s side piece. _________________ Between the things known, and the things unknown, are the Doors. |

So Kawhi never seriously entertained the Lakers and was just stringing us along the whole time? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Lebron's presence is too big for Kawhi. I mean look at Davis, Lebron is 37 and he still dominates the team in pretty much every way.
Kawhi wasn't trying to sign up for that coming off a title. |

So we actually should have been cheering for GSW to beat Toronto… _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

he basically took us out of any hope of a 3rd star that year, someone like Butler. |

I believe if we pursued Butler instead of wasting our time with Kawhi, we would've got him. He's a perfect 3rd guy. _________________ “You can't be held captive by the fear of failure or the fear of what people may say.” - Kobe Bryant |

He was using the Lakers to force the Clippers to make the move for Paul George. He is the alpha type, he wants to beat Lebron, not join him. _________________ Between the things known, and the things unknown, are the Doors. |

Hope not, but the Clippers have an identical record with us while Kawhi hasn't played a game, and PG being out for a while now. Their season and immediate future looks more promising. We have an aging superstar and a bad player getting paid 47 mil next year. _________________ “You can't be held captive by the fear of failure or the fear of what people may say.” - Kobe Bryant |

What would have happened in each of these scenarios? | None of them fit what would be the ideal fit (since we are talking about "What Ifs." - a PG.
Imagine if Westbrook was replaced by CP3 - Oh My!
Kwahi is similar to having a Kyrie
Would PG be satisfied being the Third Option on Offense - Nope
Butler is a hard-nose defender and mid-range shooter (like Lemar DeRozan) who would find a way to work his magic in the very crowded mid-range areas of the court where LBJ and AD live. His presence would eliminate any need for Dwight or DJ.
Kemba - Nope |

Jackson, Batum and Ibaka have missed time too. Somehow even with a big 2 they have managed to have a deep team. _________________ Between the things known, and the things unknown, are the Doors. |

Yup, that's the downside when you try to go for a Big 3. Though I'm not entirely opposed to a Big 3, but those three players need to compliment each other. Most saw that RW wasn't that guy. _________________ “You can't be held captive by the fear of failure or the fear of what people may say.” - Kobe Bryant |

No idea what Paul George’s problem was in 2019, choosing Westbrook over LeBron. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

People will offer up all sorts of guesses and theories on that topic, but no one but Kawhi knows for sure.
For what it's worth, Kawhi has said he "was very close" to signing with the Raptors or Lakers, but he was swayed to go to the Clippers after they signed Paul George.
Again, only Kawhi knows how close to the truth that actually is. |

It isn’t unusual for star players to choose elsewhere over Lebron. You have to realize that the good is Lebron and the bad is you. George likely would have come here in a heartbeat if he was that first big FA. _________________ Between the things known, and the things unknown, are the Doors. |
