Let's give him Ariza's minutes and see if he has the work ethic and desire to become an NBA rotation player. |

He's more of a 4/small ball 5 than a wing. But Ariza at his age moves like a C trying to defend wings, so maybe it's a wash. _________________ Under New Management |

I thought Ariza plays more than half of his minutes at the 4 these days, right? |

Ariza gives us nothing. I watched the highlights MJST posted; why don't we give this Gabriel guy like 10 minutes a game and see if he can play? |

This is the way. Get younger and take chances on fringe prospects.
He's raw at this point, but can space the floor and defend, which is all the Lakers need right now. _________________ "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." — Gandhi |

It's a 2 way deal. He isn't getting any minutes with the Lakers, unless one is referring to South Bay. |

Here is some footage of him playing defense two seasons ago (mostly against AD). He moves a bit lethargic, IMO. |

True given the Lakers roster construction. He's even logged small ball 5 minutes. I'm just saying the Gabriel I watched at UK and in Sacto was a mobile 4/5 and not a wing defender. _________________ Under New Management |

It will be interesting to see what Vogel does.
I don't see him being interested in developing projects at this point, because he is on the verge of being fired.
So he's going to play whoever he thinks gives the Lakers the best chance of winning. |

Sure, obviously we have to play whoever gives us the best chance of winning, because we have to maintain as much of our dignity as possible and at least reach the play-in tournament.
But Ariza does just about nothing to help us win, and he was a terrible signing. We need to be taking a chance on and developing young players like Gabriel. But obviously if Vogel really is going to be fired, he won't have any interest or reason to listen to management or do anything that helps us beyond this season. |

I doubt that he's much better than Sekou. _________________ White guy to white guy alley oop |

just like when Stanley came in, he was the second coming. Im sure the hope is this guy can make a dent defensively for a few games. then we will anoint him, then reality hits. |

The Lakers are waiving forward Sekou Doumbouya to make room to sign forward Wenyen Gabriel to a two-way contract, league sources tell @TheAthletic.

So this person is better than Sekou? Was Sekou near the limit of how many games he could play is a two-way player why not just bring him back up?
I mean... |

I mean... | Sekou was not even close to being the best player with the South Bay Lakers.
I don't know if it's his injury or not but things never got rolling for him in South Bay.
Wenyen G. & Doumbouya have similar game. |

Oh Werd?
I actually don't even remember seeing him in the SBL games that I watched. I was more thinking about having some continuity for a damn change. But if Sekou is wack then that's not helpful so… I don't know anything about Wenyen besides what folks have posted here so I shall keep an open mind. |
