The key to having a playoff team ready to contend for a championship in this NBA is to have Balance!.
Balance in today's NBA means you have a good mix of "youth", "athleticism", Veteran Leadership, and Consistent Outside shooting from beyond the arc.
The key to this formula does begin with either a Superstar or Potential All Star caliber type of player...
We have 2 Star Players we've proven to win with. The unfortunate part about the balance for the Lakers is that the team is strapped by the cap. There's not much more they can do, this is the mistake was made after the bubble championship!
The Lakers are limited each year by having to offer player one (1) year deals in hopes of making the playoffs. There's no room to truly invest in development. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose out on a player this off-season like Malik Monk! No surprise at all, because he's proven what his value is in this and the Lakers probably won't be able to afford him.
The Russell Westbrook experiment was a failed one, not to his fault, although he didn't play well, he is the player he is and the Lakers should have realized that, he's not going to change as a player no matter who he plays with.
I don't think a complete blow-up is needed, but some restructuring is definitely the course of action to follow. There won't be much the Lakers can do other than try to trade Westbrook, and although AD is suspect as a player on this team, he's not worth trading because we gave away too much to get him.
The Front Office needs to hire a "GOOD" offensive coach to lead the way that the Players can respect and follow as a leader. Then they need to do a better job at recruiting young players who have STAR potential. They need to learn to develop players, maybe its time for a philosophy change in the FO.
If the Lakers can trade Westbrook packaged with THT, Nunn, for an opportunity to draft some young incoming talent, or some supporting cast-role players to pair with AD and LBJ, next year will be a lot better! |

It's crazy to me that some fans still want the Lakers to hold onto AD and Lebron.
It's the definition of insanity.
Neither player has come close to playing ONE FULL SEASON for the Lakers franchise.
Next year they will just be a year older & a year more brittle, and the Lakers are right back to where they are now.
Watching them both in street clothes for 75-80% of the season.
You got a title out of them, great.
It's time to cut bait and recoup as many assets as you possibly can to rebuild this team from ground up again.
There is no trade, no free agent signing that the Lakers can make this offseason that will put them anywhere NEAR the top teams in this league.
Even with a 38 year old Lebron & a 29 year old street clothes in the lineup.
Blow it sky high. _________________ Everyting negative - pressure, challenges - is all an opportunity for me to rise.

I think AD has a better chance at playing a full season than bron. Brons injuries are due to being old. But AD has proven he isn't a #1 guy so I say keep bron as our Jamal Crawford and start rebuild with trading AD _________________ Kobe.

I think trading AD is the real solution… he has value and a team like Chicago or new York might be willing to bite … couple player with couple draft picks.
For sure the coach has to be fired. |
