Assume that Lebron retires a Laker, surpasses Kareem's all time scoring record, but doesn't win another NBA Championship for the Lakers. Does he get the statue outside Staples?

The best we should do is retire his 6 or 23. Not both 6 and 23. He's not Kobe. No statue. He's only been a Laker for 4 seasons.

Bad timing to talk about this when we have the arguably 3rd worst team in the league. I mean if we keep going down this road, in a few years, nobody would care whose statue is outside crypto.com arena. It's no longer Staple Center.

Whoever voted YES is either a LeBron-first fan or needs to have their voting privileges taken away.

Not even Wilt Chamberlain has a statue.

Wilt and LeBron have similar histories with the Lakers as far as coming on the tail end of their careers. But if LeBron becomes the all time leading scorer in a Laker uniform, why wouldn’t the Lakers want to advertise that?

I’m voting NO. Let Cleveland build him one; he started there
burned them and then returned. They have a history together.

They can build him whatever, there.

No, this stat chasing, LeGM who forced the FO to jeopardize our future to appease his egotistical azz does not get a statue. LeGM is going to bounce summer 2023 anyways and take zero blame for the destruction he brought to the future of this organization.

Actually, correct that. If he demands a trade this summer and brings back some picks and decent youth to build with, I think he should get a statue because he helped us escape a mess we allowed his idiotic azz to create. Then Lakers should draft his son in a few years and put him on their G-League affiliate but never allow him to see the floor. And ban LBJ from their arena so he can’t watch home games

See, I can be as petty as this egotistical maniac.

Let's trade AD and LBJ for the draft rights to Mathurin and start from scratch.

Maybe put his statue in the middle of the LA Live retail complex across the street along with all the other tacky crap that doesn't really feel like Los Angeles...

He gave us one title and ruined franchise for next 5-8 years. Dont see how he deserves retired jersey. Statue I dont even want to mention next to his name. Dont care about his records, scoring titles or whatever. I only care about the Lakers and how they perform. And because of his and Klutch decisions we are worst team in the league. So quite clear form me.
To talk about his statue when even greatest Laker of all time Kobe Bryant does not have one.
Shut down this thread asap.

Are you serious? Because the grand majority of his points came when he WASN'T a Laker. If Malone had passed Kareem as a Laker, would you retire his jersey, let alone erect a statue for him? Get real...

But it does add to the legacy that is the Lakers brand that we’ve had one of the goat retired.
