We know Westbrook will probably be gone.

What are your hunches?

Will they try to retool for one more run?

Or begin to dismantle and prepare for the future?

Lakers should explore every avenue but not without Pelinka getting canned and the new GM making the decisions

Going the overseas route isn't a bad idea. There's some talent out there.

How any fan could want any of these players to return next season is crazy to me.

Depends what you trade Westbrook for, 2 players minimum, probably 3.

James, Davis, Player 1, 2 and 3 from Russ, THT, Nunn, Reaves, Johnson, Gabriel, maybe Monk. Then a bunch of vet min. players

If Westbrook is gone that would mean that Rob got fleeced again. I expect him, Lebron and AD back. Along with some older vet min players. Reaves and/or THT being here depends on if Pelinka dumps them to get rid of Westbrook. We will have a new coach and I fully expect it to be Kurt Rambis. Nunn might be interesting, teams saw what he did in Miami and know that a bone bruise isn’t career-threatening like an Achilles. It is up ⬆️ n the air if he opts in or opts out.

If we can move Westbrook for a couple of players. Would love a defensive better shooter PG and a 3&D wing...

(Westbrook/1st for Brogdon/Hield or resigned TJ Warren)

Also if we can bring guys like Covington or Otto Porter, this team automatically gets way better next season.

Brogdon
Hield or TJ Warren
Covington
Lebron
AD

Nunn
Monk
OPJ
Dwight

The role players have been especially bad. I love Malik Monk's offense. But his defense costs us.
DJ Augustin and Wenyen Gabriel probably shouldn't be getting NBA minutes on a team trying to make the playoffs.
Going into this season, I really overrated the "Big 3" theory. The other big 3 in Brooklyn isn't doing much better. Maybe a big 3 just costs too much in terms of filling out the rest of the roster.

Problem is if your Big 3 are injury prone... You just don't have enough to over come it.

We saw it with Miami, GSW, Nets and now Lakers... Even though I feel like Westbrook was no where near an all star level player this year.

It depends on the direction the team decides to go in. Get shooters for Lebron. Get bigs for Anthony. Get runners for Russell.

Enough with giving up 1st rounders, unless its for elite talent like AD

We're giving up one 1st not 3-4 which what requires for an elite talent. Unless you have a young all star to throw in. Which the Lakers don't.

Change that to a pick swap

Pritchard can bank on the Lakers being a lottery team again, for a third straight season

Who's gonna take Westbrook's $47 million contract? He's another Luol Deng, a huge mistake.

LeBron
AD
Monk
Melo
Reaves

Unless some kind of miracle or a FO goes bananas, Westbrook.

One too many. James is here one more season, or two. We need to keep assets for when hes gone

I seriously don't think they can move Westbrook without attaching picks... It will also come down to the players they are trading for.

Unless you guys are happy with a Wall and Westbrook swap...

Id rather stick with Westbrook than lose an asset for trading him. Hes a free agent in 2023. If they can move him like this, fine, otherwise stick with him

They will bring back LBJ/AD/Reaves/Stanley. Nunn may opt in. Who knows about THT. That's about all I expect at this point.

Many of us do but I have little confidence that we see changes.

Lakers would be lucky to dump Westbrook with only one first round pick if the they are getting back starter level players on ok contracts. Most likely there will be a bad contract coming back even with a first...just need to see how bad the contract would be....hopefully it wont be John Wall level bad. Lakers first tradable pick is in 2027...which is quite far...so thats not an attractive asset for almost any GM in the league.

Lakers dont control their picks for 2023, 2024 and 2025 and there is no protection on the pick....so it will be a decent trade off to get a starter for the next few years with a lightly protected 2027 pick.

AD is a great player but the horrible thing about AD trade was they did not use the leverage of signing him in free agency with cap space. They gave up Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, an immediate an high lottery pick that pick that became Darius Garland and 5 unprotected future first round picks.

Nobody is taking THT without picks attached either...the THT trades discussed for good players are funny

Lakers will be VERY lucky if Lebron demands a trade...it will be like the declining Brick asking to be traded from OKC.
