I heard the interview. How you respond to it will depend on whether or not you like Magic Johnson, as a person.

Like Lebron, there are two camps for Magic Johnson, those that like him and those that hate him. Those that hate him will ignore the message and attack the messager. They will be skeptical of the validity of Magic's opinions, as well as his motivation.

I will say that Magic, like most of us, is a passionate fan who too often speaks from frustration, which means he tends to exaggerate stuff to blow off steam. He also doesn't have much of a filter, as he essentially threw several people under the ol Greyhound today, including, of course, Lebron James.

That said, even if Lebron vetoed the DD trade in favor of RW, I still don't attribute that to our downfall this season. RW, although bad at times, isn't the main reason for why this Lakers team won't make the playoffs. Rob Pelinka failed to assemble enough players to compensate for injuries (AD) and poor performers (RW). He signed too many washed up, old players, he failed to sign any defensive stoppers, he failed to sign competent shooters, and he failed to sign hungry youth.

Yes, the Magic interview will make some headlines, but the fact the remains the same, regardless of whether Demar or Westbrook is on this team...Rob Pelinka failed to properly populate the team with enough impactful players.

The only thing Magic, our former PoBO, confirmed was that he has no understanding of the salary cap

Magic might be annoying but the reality is LeBron does have to much control over the decisions this FO makes, makes me hope even more that LeBron gets traded this summer

i mean, demar was still TRADED from the spurs on a sign and trade, right? maybe we did try, but were expectedly met with Pop saying "go suck an egg". he has so much irrational hate for the lakers, it's absurd.

Like or dislike Magic, he’s the only person in Lakersland who has inside info and is willing to tell about it. He didn’t say Popovich killed the deal, he said Lebron killed it.

It says all I need to hear to rebut those who keep saying Lebron has no power to make moves, only the GM does. Ok.

We probably still have spacing issues even with DeRozan.

I think so too....this was a S&T for DeMar.....lets play Magic's game...say Pop would've dealt with us...he would have at the minimum wanted Kuz....so Magic saying we could have had DeMar and then traded Kuz for Hield...that tells you how much Magic knows....He really needs to shut up because he constantly makes a fool out of himself.

What does Magic means, if we just signed Derozan? Was Derozan really willing to sign for mle? Sign and trade would have hard capped the Lakers…

What he meant by just trading Kuzma for Hield? Salary does not even work…

Only thing this interview tells is that Magic is also not aware of salary cap.

Think of all the mid range jumpers Westbrook has clanked.

Now imagine Derozan taking them.

Which is the better result?

This is cap 🧢. Not that Magic said it but it really wasn’t possible unless DROZ would have taken the MMLE or Popovich joined the Lakers. Lots of agendas coming out now and I hope this doesn’t mean my favorite Laker all time is coming back to manage the FO.

By the way, it's BS.
Sure, DeMar explored coming here, but that was it.
The Spurs would NOT have done a sign and trade for him with the Lakers.

That's it...

DDR himself said that he wasn't willing to take a MLE deal.

Magic just loves the microphone and the cameras.

Prob BS but Magic and DeMar both said deal was done or reached. Man, AC-KCP-DeMar back court woulda been a defensive juggernaut

Derozan would not work with the Lakers. In Chicago hes thriving because hes the number 1 option, he gets a ton of touches, they feature him on offense and have shooters and playmakers who match his skill set.

DeRozan would be another Westbrook like situation since he would be an after thought on offense as the team caters and Lebron and AD first. And Lebron controls the offense and gets most of the touches.

This wouldn't work here. Keep in mind Derozan has a rep for not being a clutch performer (until this year), he would get destroyed by tbr LA crowd just like Westbrook. The lights here are too big for him, he doesnt fit.

Yes he would have. And he'd work a lot better than Westbrook has.

I’ve been advocating for the Lakers to get DROZ since 2016. And I don’t believe one word from Magic about this.

Guy traded zubac for muscala

Magic is the last person to talk about roster moves and "making excuses".

This man is a liar and a shill for ownership. He should be ashamed of himself. Magic is a lot of what i would never want in a person. He's a coward. Fantastic player but an absolute coward.

Sit down Magic you are the last one to i'd want talking about this you buffoon.
