Lets hire Pat Riley back so we can 2-peat. We can have Riley hire Phil Jackson as an assistant so we can add in a 3 peat. We'll be the first team in the NBA to 5-peat. if we don't get a 6-peat, fire them all.
I would love to have Phil Jackson as an assistant coach/Consigliere, similar to what Larry Brown is doing for the University of Memphis right now.
Phil Jackson’s ego will never let himself be someone’s mentor/consigliere.
This is what happens when you have a clown front office.
What a surprise. Snyder knows that if he wanted to leave he would probably have multiple offers. Same thing with Nurse.
Vogel wins a chip and that apparently merits a 1-year contract extension. Nick Nurse wins a chip and gets a 3 year contract extension. That sends a pretty clear signal about how the Lakers FO values its coaches.
Plus I'm sure both of these guys want to be able do their job like picking their assistant coaches without Rambis watching over their shoulders.
Lakers don't even need a good coach. Just someone who can keep AD healthy all season and ride his coattail to another Championship. _________________ We love NIL (New & Improved Lakers!)
There are only 30 of these gigs. Pretty much anyone who's not a current NBA head coach/top 10 NCAA head coach is in the mix.
I expect the next HC to be Johnnie Bryant.
Interesting choice, coached under Snyder and Thibs. Do you really think that the FO will take that gamble? I would love to see them gamble on a new coach but they seem so enamored with names.
The key, as always, is player buy-in, particularly from AD & LBJ. Bryant is tight with Dame, CP3 and (of course) Donovan Mitchell - all of whom are LBJ's guys.
Fall back will be Will Hardy. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".
I hate to say it but I am almost certain it will be Doc Rivers. They already shot themselves in the foot with the search. _________________ Author of James Harden and the Strip Club

No self respecting coach would want to work in this 🎪. Low pay + getting blamed when things go wrong + rambii telling them how to coach + can't bring their own assistants etc...

What did I miss? Why Rivers?
I hope it is just some wild speculation. I dislike Rivers too much for him to be the coach of my Lakers. Just when thought things couldn’t get any worse, Rivers happens!

Doc will take it knowing bron and ad won’t be healthy. That way he can say he’s never lost when they are healthy.
Every time I hear Doc speak and see his mannerisms, he still comes off as a Celtic.
He didn't give the Lakers credit when they beat him for the 2010 title, he argues with refs in a self-entitled way and he's too much of a rah-rah guy.
If Doc became the Lakers' coach, at the very least, Magic Johnson and Jerry West would need to hire the top rabbi in the area to perform an exorcism on Doc. Some chickens may need to be sacrificed to cleanse Doc's soul.

Well based off the reports:
Juwan Howard’s kids are at Michigan so I think it’s unlikely he joins while they’re there.
Quin Snyder seems turned off by the handling of Vogel.
Fizdale would be too much associated with this past season to be a serious contender.
Atkinson seems a Frank Vogel personality.
Nick Nurse appears to be using the Lakers as leverage to get a higher salary from Toronto.
Doc will most likely be fired once the Sixers lose in the 2nd round. Jeanie and Pelinka will bond with him over their disdain for Ballmer. He’ll sell that he’s been around a lot of difficult personalities.
Please make no mistake I don’t want him but I think he meets their flawed requirements. _________________ Author of James Harden and the Strip Club

1a. Nurse - completely unrealistic
1b. Snyder - more likely but still unlikely
Snyder would be a great option but if reports are true he's "less interested" due to how Vogel was handled, it might cost Jeanie a couple million more per season to get him.
Doc is also an unattractive option but feels likely. Lets root for a deep Philly push in the playoffs. If he does come, I hope he brings a stacked staff aka a legit defensive mind and a legit offensive mind because other than seeming to be a good leader, I'm not sure he does much else.
One reason that I can get on board with Doc Rivers is the impact he has had on Joel Embiid, who has had his two best seasons under Doc while remaining relatively healthy.
If he can have a similar impact on Anthony Davis, bring him in.
