|
|
Quote: | Rob Pelinka is speaking to the media, says he wants to thank Frank Vogel for three "really strong years" with the Lakers. Says they just "felt like it was time for a change in our leadership voice... but Frank was grateful for the opportunity that he had."
|
Quote: | "We just felt organizationally at the highest level, that it was time for a new voice." -- #Lakers GM Rob Pelinka on why Frank Vogel was the fall guy for the #LakeShow season today.
|
Quote: | "This was a very difficult season and it starts with me, the roster." -- #Lakers GM Rob Pelinka
|
Quote: | Rob Pelinka says the accountability for this season's disappointment extends to the coaching staff, front office, training and medical staff and the players.
|
Quote: | Rob Pelinka says the Lakers are looking for a “strong voice that’s able to inspire the players to play at the highest level of competition every night” with their next coach.
|
Quote: | "Our roster did not work. We did not have the season that we expect." -- #Lakers GM Rob Pelinka
|
Quote: | "All things considered, it would be great to have a new head coach in place by the draft." -- #Lakers GM Rob Pelinka
|
Quote: | "We don't respond to unsourced media reports, and in terms of the timing of our decision I'm going to keep that internal," Pelinka tells @billoram of the roughly 12 hours between Woj's report that Frank was fired and the Lakers telling Frank that he was fired.
The funniest part of this is that Pelinka has been on Woj's pod multiple times.
|
Quote: | Pelinka says that he makes all basketball decisions and takes responsibility for them, pushing back on the idea that Jeanie Buss was involved in the Vogel dismissal.
|
Quote: | Pelinka says Kurt Rambis, Joey Buss and Jesse Buss will be assisting him in roster decisions this summer and he will consult LeBron and AD again, but at the end of the day, the decisions are ultimately up to him
|
Quote: | Pelinka: "At the end of the day, the roster decisions ultimately rest on my shoulders ... I'm the one who leads the basketball operations department and will take ultimate accountability"
|

Bill Oram is not having any of it!
Quote: | Rob Pelinka is not owning the fact that the Lakers humiliated Frank Vogel. He is dismissing initial report as unsourced and unsubstantiated. Says Vogel "factually heard about our decision in an in-person meeting this morning."

Well I’ll give the snake one thing…he’s putting his head on the chopping block.
He’s making it clear that decisions will be his this time, even if he does consult. So looks like the yes man gets this one year to prove himself.
I like how he included Kurt with Joey and Jesse. Very snake like to promote collaboration but he would be wise not to listen to Kurt. Joey and Jesse on the other hand have proven themselves in the scouting and player evaluation field. |

Rob, just like the Rambii, is Jeanie's bestie and Jeanie doesn't fire her bestie. Basically, it looks like we're going to have the same front office that just had arguably the worst season ever in terms of personnel moves leading the team for the foreseeable future. God bless the Lakers cuz they're gonna need it. |

Including Joey and Jesse actually reads to me like he’s ready to take everyone down with him if this doesn’t work out again. He’s putting them on the same level as Kurt in the media for a reason. Now there’s more names to be blamed if it collapses again. _________________ Austin Reaves

He has given them credit before, citing how they join him on scouting trips.
But honestly, looks like Rob knows this is his final shot and so now he seems to flat out say that he will be making the decisions. If you are going down, might as well go down your way. |

Oh and this is 100% accurate. |
It’s up to the ownership group if they want to retain Pelinka and Rambis nothing is set in stone yet, even Pelinka is blaming himself and the FO for the team’s failures. |

So the appropriate action would be to step down for giving the lakers the most disappointing season in the last 30-40 years?
It's sad rob won't be fired because of jeannie. A competent organization would have fired him right now.
The russ trade maybe worse than mozdeng, which costs mitch/jim their jobs. It should be applied to pelinka as well regardless of LeGM. |

if you switched the names to the owners of each team, it would be 100% accurate as well. |

Since no coach can succeed with A} terrible team health issues, especially from the two stars, and B} your admittedly bad roster...
...why is Vogel gone and not you, Pelinka? |

Pelinka at hot seat may be problem, remember last time Jim Buss was at hot seat he was about to trade Ingram and other assets for Cousins and thankfully Mitch stopped him. Not sure there is anyone out there to stop Pelinka do sth stupid |

Has there ever been an NBA coach that has been with a team 3 seasons; won a title in his first year, made the playoffs in his second, and was fired by the third?
Honestly. Has there? |

Westhead getting pushed out is the only time I can think of and that had to do with Magic wanting him out. _________________ KOBE |

It shows Lakers don't rest on their laurels even though they won a ring just 18 months ago. They want to win every season which is a testament to Rob and Jeanie. _________________ We love NIL (New & Improved Lakers!) |
