They fired head coach Frank Vogel. The entire roster will be turned over.
What style of basketball do you want to watch?
What style should they emulate?
Current roster
PG 34 year old 6'3" Russell Westbrook ($47 million, 1 year)
PG 27 year old 6'2" Kendrick Nunn ($5 million, 1 year)
SG 22 year old 6'4" Talen Horton Tucker ($10 million, 2 year)
SG 24 year old 6'5" Austin Reaves ($2 million, 2 year)
SF 38 year old 6'9" Lebron James ($45 million, 1 year)
SF 26 year old 6'6" Stanley Johnson ($2 million, 1 year)
PF 29 year old 6'10" Anthony Davis ($38 million, 3 year)
PF 25 year old 6'9" Wenyen Gabrial ($2 million, 1 year)
No draft picks.
Undrafted free agents.
They need to decide whether they need a center. They ran small ball lineups last year with a forward at center. David Fizdale is likely to be named head coach, they ran small ball in Miami, so we will likely see more small ball with Anthony and Lebron at center.
They need to decide whether they need a wing. They had some success with Stanley and Austin in that wing defender role, but neither score the ball. The scoring load was carried by Carmelo, 13 points off the bench.
They need to decide whether they need a guard. They got outside shooting and fast break dunks from Malik, who developed into a playmaker, carried the scoring load. Talen is not the outside and fast break threat of Malik, his strength is in the paint, different styles.
These personnel decisions would be made by the next head coach.
If the next coach is David Fizdale
In Memphis: Chandler Parsons (big free agent)
Starters: Mike Conley, Dillan Brooks, Jamychal Green, Marc Gasol
In New York: Julius Randle (big free agent)
Starters: Total roster turnover in 2018 and in 2019
Success with a traditional center, Marc Gasol, in Memphis
Failure with a small center, Noah Vonley and Julius Randle, in New York
next year will unfortunately be similar to this year unless Rob pulls off a couple of miracles, which is possible. However, as we saw this year, it was a huge failure other than for one player (his words).
We are all going along for the "catch and pass KAJ" ride. W's, as we experienced this year will be secondary.

It will be what Lebron wants style. The FO is weak and will hire a coach who caters to him, they will avoid conflict as much as they can. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
This idea only works because it's the Knicks, and since they are always superstar hungry maybe it interests them.
OUT: Westbrook
In: Randle, Rose, (fill in player for cap purposes)
This only works because Randle wants out and NYKs get a "star" player for 1 year that maybe they can rehab his image, and if not he's gone next year. Randle can come back and he can be more of the inside banger while AD does his thing on the perimeter. We get Rose who I guess is serviceable, but we know how well he did with Lebron last time. Overall not the best trade, not the worst trade, but at least we are getting something "serviceable" that could be considered an upgrade over Westbrook.
With this play style you get a young player in Randle who can run the floor so it suits Lebron's open play style. Once again it saves AD who won't need to bang down low all the time now. Rose can be a serviceable PG who can take the ball out of Lebron every now and again, and every now and again he has a vintage game. Keep Reaves, THT, and Stanley and it's not the worst young core considering our circumstances.

I rather have Fournier instead of Rose. You need shooters around LBJ.

Fournier is like Kuzma, in that; when he's ON he's good when he's not, it's
a long night. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team !
Same style that won the title.. long, defense, high iq, and off the defense can get out and run. Obiovusly shooters are needed as well. It's what works best for Bron and AD
I loved the triangle, but I don't think you can run that with consistency like we did. I don't think AD would be that great in it with his passing issues. LeBron would be awesome and I'd love him in the post more with guys cutting around him with purpose...but I also want him consistently getting downhill forcing the D to make decisions. Definitely wouldn't mind using more of the split actions, etc. around LBJ as just part of our tools we go to.
The 2020 championship squad was remarkable for its ability to play both big and small, especially after getting Markief. Regardless of the style, I want:
1. a relatively mobile big that can shoot that can start but won't make a big stink about coming off the bench (Hartenstein, Dedmon, Bryant)
2. two starter-quality 3-D wings, preferably a speedier one at 6-6/6-7 and the other with a bit more bulk at 6-8/6-9
I would otherwise default towards a bigger lineup with versatile wings that allow Lebron to take on the easiest defensive assignment and a center that allows AD to roam on D but keeps the lane open for Lebron. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit)

No. I seen Fournier and he and Kuz have nothing in common.
Fournier career high 241 3's (previously 173) hit 38% this year and has shot 40% or better 3x in his career from 3 pt land.
Kuz career high 159 3's (rookie season). This yr he hit 128 3's at 34%. His career he's never been better than 36.6% from 3pt land.
Whatever O accepts that LBJ will be dominating the ball, but he WILL facilitate so that's ok...it just means besides AD we probably need an athletic big to shore up inside D to mitigate Bron on D...shooting at the 2 and 1, ideally at least one of them being a decent perimeter defender
