Code:
LA used 5-Out more frequently vs Milwaukee than they have any other game this season.

This was their lowest 4-Out 1-In usage all year & 2nd time 5-Out usage > 4-Out 1-In usage this year.

PPP on the year:

Freelance
5-Out: 1.02
4-Out 1-In: 0.90

Sets
5-Out: 1.14
4-Out 1-In: 1:09

Coaching isn't just about lineups, fam.
Interesting stuff, coach. Also explains why TB and Gabriel get limited minutes.

I remember coach Ham had a conversation with Russ at the beginning of the season and said something to the effect, "If you trust me you're going the thrive". Look at how far this team has come, from not trading Russ, to an 0 and 5 start, moving Russ to the bench, and beating the Bucks. Russ had/has a negative trade value and a bad reputation, look at him now because he trusted Ham. Other players see this, and they will come.

Ham has a reputation as a culture setter, I was skeptical but I think I'm now starting to believe. He may end up being the most important pick-up since the Lakers drafted Kobe.

Agree. I think Ham's hard work in building a good culture and the guys building chemistry is starting to pay off.

We are 10-12 after 22 games.

I think it's possible we can go 35-25 in the next 60 games.

I'm liking the direction the team is going in, lately. There are a few concerns, I have. One is the lack of size at the 3 spot, after Brown Jr.. The other are these late game let-ups that the Lakers seem to keep indulging in, led by LeBron going iso mode. Those things are correctible going forward.

My other concern is the increasing lack of offensive inclusivity, in the last couple games. It may just be a game-to-game thing. But, I'm concerned to see guys like Lonnie, and Reaves, not having as much engagement in the offense. And, being relegated to mostly spot up shooters. They've demonstrated they have more to offer than that. We're winning despite this, and I'm definitely not complaining about winning. But, if we're riding AD this hard during the season, will he have enough for a possible post season? And, if you freeze your role players out, and need them in the case of a post season push, will they be able to just turn it on?

Personally, I would like to see Ham get our key role players more involved in the offense, going forward. The AD/LeBron/Russ show is cool to watch. But, I believe we're going to need more than that, over the course of the season.

Also, is JTA REALLY that bad, that you'd play Bev over him, and just give up size? JTA, so far, isn't shooting any better than Bev. But, at least he can guard bigger players, better than Bev. Not sure why he fell out of the rotation so hard..

Ham is that guy. So many were caught up in the losing and not seeing the defensive identity, ball movement, spacing, guys buying into their roles, etc. In reality, we are a very new team trying to figure it out but no doubt we have turned a couple corners... really pleased with Ham.

JTA shoots 3s like he’s playing hot potato.

Lakers offense rankings:

Full season: 23rd
Since Nov. 1: 6th
Since Nov. 15: 3rd
Since Dec. 1: 2nd

Ignore their historically inept shooting start and this has been one of the best offenses in the NBA.

Start giving the coaching staff some props.
No offense to Vogel, but his offense wasn't it.
Ham making the switch to 5 out in-season has been huge.

Ham is doing this in spite of getting literally no production from Bev/Nunn.

Imagine if we make a trade and get him a reliable scorer (Bojan) or some bigger wings?

No props after that monumental idiocy of lineups. Especially one to finish the game with Bron at C.

Simply moronic.

Shoulda played Bryant-Bron-Brown front court a lil more. Even the announcers kept saying Bryant was making a case for himself, sounded like LG lol

Well, TBryant was the 2nd laker in mins with 28 behind Lebron who played 35; DJones play 11 minutes. TBryant was tired in the 4th. Lebron really played 2 or 3 mins. at center.

The real problem was we got nobody to guard Spida. He went nuclear and really butchered Reeves.

Front office is going to have to trade Bev b/c Ham isn't going to recover from his Averybradlitis re: Bev.

Bev is just killing us out there as teams literally do not guard him.

If you look at the TOP TEAMS they have 1 thing in common. They rank at the top of eFG%.

based on eFG%

Thomas Bryant
Wenyen Gabriel
Austin Reaves
Anthony Davis
Lonnie Walker IV
Troy Brown Jr
LeBron James

And Dennis we know can play at a high level.

There is no REASON to play BRICK, Beverly, Jones these guys are straight garbage.

PG.Walker / Dennis
SG.Reaves / Brown
SF.LeBron / Brown
PF.Gabriel / Davis
C.Davis / Bryant

Why not deploy the players who can actually play basketball?

Imagine that team going up against

Dennis
Beverly
Walker
LeBron
Davis

You'd lose 9 out of 10 times. You will get out rebounded, they will kill you in the paint, and their defense will be better because of their length. On offense you put the ball on LeBron/Reave hands and them AD go to work. Now the ball is in the hand of efficient players. Have you not seen Reaves constantly ignoring Brick ? This kid is smart. He understands percentages

But no..................LETS KEEP LOSING!!!!!!

PG.Dennis
SG.Beverly
SF.BRICK
PF.WALKER
C.NUNN

I think Ham has actually figured out a lot of the stuff after initially being lost. One of the key things he realized is WB needs to stay away from Lebron/AD to get AD going. Because when it's just AD/Lebron, and Lebron wants to, AD will be the featured player. Secondly, our spacing has been quite good. We spread the floor really well with his schemes. We target a lot of open paint off the ball stuff, which is what we were trying last year to do. Imagine if our spacing/spread offense had some actual quality shooters.

Mainly I think coaching is not an issue with the Lakers. It's our roster, it's limitations stick out. We just don't have enough shooters that can defend at a high level. We don't have enough size next to AD/Lebron. This has been the case since the Westbrook trade.

I feel Ham's been a solid 7/10. He's been solid with the team.

All that said, as we saw last night. Put last year's AD on this year's team and we're a 6-15 type of team right now. AD playing like a MVP allows us to be at 10-13. That shows how weak the cast is. I don't fault Ham for the roster's limitations. I didn't fault last year's staff either. But the #1 reason we're sniffing .500 and a play in is AD playing like a MVP. The minute AD gets hurt or if his level drops, we're toast.

Most important thing he has gotten done that I respect, he's gotten Westbrook to play off the bench and look for AD. That's something last year WB would have never done. Now I don't agree with keeping this situation (I'd cash in on AD and move him ASAP for longterm assets to build the next ring team) but since Jeanie/Rob want to make this work and look competitive/respectable, I feel Ham has done a real solid job with the situation he's given. This team isn't better than a 11-12/10-13 type of team with any coach, IMO.
