It is not just that. When half the roster is composed of minimum one year players, they don't have the spirit of working as a team. As opposed to if we have kept Kuzma, KCP and Caruso who have played for Vogel before and will likely stay on the team long-term, they would listen to Vogel.
You and OP are not not wrong - but you can't just ignore (the lack of) ability and talent or being washed-up which is usually the biggest factor that makes a vet-min a vet-min.
Yea that too, which leads to the same conclusion, it is not the coach's fault
Doc Rivers' future as head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers looks uncertain, but he may not be out of work long if they decide to move on.
Appearing on ESPN's Get Up, Brian Windhorst said the Los Angeles Lakers are "watching developments closely" with Rivers because they will "definitely have interest" if he's fired by the Sixers.
Philadelphia's season came to an end on Thursday night with a 99-90 loss to the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
After the game, Rivers was asked about his job security with the organization.
"I don’t worry about my job," he told reporters. "I think I do a terrific job and if you don’t, then you should write it. Because I worked my butt off to get this team here. When I first got here, no one picked us to be anywhere. And again this year, the same thing. So if that’s how anyone feels, write it and I’m gonna feel secure about it. ... I know what I did this year, and I feel very good about that."
Rivers was hired by the 76ers in October 2020, days after he decided to part ways with the Los Angeles Clippers. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported his deal with Philadelphia was for five years, which will run through the 2024-25 season.
B/R's Jake Fischer reported earlier this month that Rivers, who makes $8 million per season, and Sixers management "remain aligned about their future together."
The Lakers have cast a wide net thus far in their search to find Frank Vogel's replacement. They have already interviewed or requested interviews with at least six candidates, including Milwaukee Bucks assistants Darvin Ham and Charles Lee, Kenny Atkinson, Mark Jackson, Terry Stotts and Adrian Griffin.
Michael Scotto: James Harden on his $47 million player option: “I’ll be here. Whatever allows this team to continue grow, get better and do the things necessary to compete at the highest level.” Harden said the ball didn’t get to him. Asked if Doc Rivers called plays for him: “Next question.”
Kyle Neubeck: Harden asked if he would take less on an extension: “Whatever it takes to help this team continue to grow”
Translation: Yeah, I’ll take a little bit off the top, but Docs gotta go. Maybe if y’all want Htown Harden back, go get that dude that gave me the keys to drive this thing…what’s he up to?

According to three league sources, the leader for the Hornets’ coaching job is Mike D’Antoni. “I don’t think it’s a done deal or anything, but I know they like the idea of what he can do with LaMelo (Ball) and their running game,” said a source close to the matter. “If D’Antoni can get those guys on his wavelength, that’s going to be an even more fun team to watch.”
But there remain some roster issues, primarily a lack of high-quality size. And word from around the league is that the Hornets would like to get away from the oft-injured Gordon Hayward’s contract, which has two years at $30 million and $31.5 million remaining. “I know Gordon’s situation has been super frustrating,” said one exec. “He’s such an important player when he’s healthy. He’s talented and he plays the right way. But him staying healthy is a big if.” Said another, “At this stage of his career after all the injuries, he’s a good player. He’s a nice player. But he’s not a transformative player, and he’s being paid like he is, and that’s troubling.” – via Steve Bulpett @ Heavy.com
Sure looks like MDA’s camp are using the Bugs to force Doc’s exodus from
Philly. Let the bidding war begin…
Looking at it from the Lakers perspective, I certainly hope MDA ain’t yet another retread back here. I’d rather sell Mitch on the idea of reuniting with his previous coach and having that viley 7SoL SoB salivate over the idea of a LaMelo/Russ beep beep backcourt. Hopefully we can get Hayward and some young assets on longer deals outta that exchange.
Oh also, anything outta Philly ain’t what the Dr ordered. Let the good Doc RIP and just say no to Glen. _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

Seems he has the coaching Xs and Os chops. How is he in terms of managing the locker room and personalities? That would be my biggest question. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

-Not impressed, says his grades and tape don’t match narrative of Atkinson.
-More of a development guy, but even then Nets only incremental improvements year over year and they had some talent not like Sixers process.
-Graded F on both defense and offense. 5 guys on this list with the likes of Lionel Hollins and Earl Watson.
-With GS he’s offensive assistant, but Kerr calls the plays and with Kerr out, it’s defensive assistant Mike Brown calls the offensive plays. Basically that in GS Atkinson is basically along for the ride.
Cranjis has 4 tiers for Laker coaching candidates and he doesn’t have Atkinson in any of 4 tiers.
SAS has deep connections in philly. Probably true.
So that means dantoni may end up to Charlotte and the Lakers have their pick with numerous candidates. Let’s see how Phil, err i mean Kurt, err i mean Rob, err I mean Jeanie screws this up. _________________ Darvin

Mark Jackson can tell us a thing or two about being saved. _________________ Darvin

Cranjis had an interesting pod about Atkinson.
What is the TL;DR summary?

Why is Doc Rivers even such a famous coach to begin with? He literally won one ring in 23 years of coaching because he had a super team with four future Hall of Famers. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

That’s exactly it, if you build a super team then maybe Rivers makes sense, if you have AD/LeBron/Kyrie for example I could see Rivers making it work but if the plan is to have a roster with depth then it’s not gonna work.
