The problem is mental health. This guy was bullied because he had a lisp and wore eye liner. He had a crappy home life. No one who is in good mental health decides to go and kill a lot of people. Yet millions and millions own guns and never hurt another human. I have owned them for over 50 years and unless you are a quail, you won’t be hurt by one.

Every country in the world has people with mental health problems. But only the US has more mass shootings than there are days in the year. The difference is the proliferation of guns and easy access to guns especially AR-15's and other semi-automatics that can kill 50 people in less than a minute.

As disturbing as it would be, maybe it’s time to without warning, start putting the pictures out there of the children dead in the classrooms. Maybe the revulsion of seeing 7 year olds with bullet holes will wake some people the (bleep) to do something about this madness. It’s so easy to just sweep it under the rug when not confronted by the absolute horror of this. It’s easy for people to hide themselves from what an AR-15 does to a child when they just show smiling faces.

Then again maybe it’s wishful thinking that it would do anything. Maybe the gun fetishists are too into masturbating to their AR-15 to give a (bleep).

O’Rourke confronts Abbott at press conference on Texas school shooting

Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke confronted Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) at a press conference in Uvalde on Wednesday following the elementary school shooting that left 21 people, including 19 children, dead.

Abbott had been providing information on mental health in the wake of the shooting when O’Rourke rushed up to the podium.

“You are doing nothing,” O’Rourke said, only feet away from Abbott. “You said this was not predictable, this was totally predictable, and you choose not to do anything.”

Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin could be heard yelling, “sir you are out of line. Please leave this auditorium.”

“You’re out of line,” McLaughlin shouted. “I can’t believe you’re a sick son of a (bleep) who would come to a deal like this to make a political issue.”

O’Rourke was then escorted out of the auditorium. He later addressed the press outside.

The guy should have gotten his ass kicked, using the death of young children as a political ploy.

Yeah, he’s the problem.

So, I take it that you agree then that this "guy [who] was bullied because he had a lisp and wore eyeliner" should not have had a gun. The laws should not have been such that this guy who is not "one in good mental health" should have been able to purchase two rifles and ammo on May 16, 2022, within days of his 18th birthday. If you agree with this, then what is the solution. Should there at least be restrictions and policies in place to prevent those with these "mental health" problems from buying assault rifles to butcher children? Thanks.

If we cannot teach children not to bully and hurt other childen then there is no hope

Our school system produced Trump Voters and Insurrectionists

How is it that we can go to the moon
Create nuclear weapons
Be humans for 1000's of years

Yet there are still children bullying other children?

First episode of bullying I would incarcerate the bullies parents and take their child away until they commit to making sure it doesn't bully people anymore.

On top of all the other terrible things they do, they suck at their jobs and the law protects them sucking.

The problem is ignoring easy access to guns. If a mentally ill person or any person didn't have easy access to a gun mass shootings would slowly become a thing of the past. Query VLF, would you hunt quail if they had guns?

Does the USA have the ability to remove a state from the Union?

Remove all military items and any other Fed Gov stuff and remove Texas.

Then sanction them and force removal of the criminals in charge

How many people died because these Hicks forced American citizens off the National Electrial Grid?

Quote:
Texas has so far acknowledged 151 winter storm-related deaths. BuzzFeed News, on the other hand, found that an estimated 700 people lost their lives from the combined catastrophes of the storm and power outages.

These are Americans or Texans who Abbot and Paxton murdered? Isn't this Manslaughter?

I have a quality proposal

ICE scans many people phones and social media before they let them into the country.
Do it for people wanting to buy a gun
I saw a headline today that the kid warned them he was going to shootup a school.

Wow, the Miami Heat arena announcer just gave out the state senators' number and encouraged everyone to call and "demand their support for common sense gun laws" live on ESPN . . . that's great, as purely symbolic as it is.

That's where I got the number. I posted it and used it. Please LG do the same. We might make a difference. Symbolism may forge a continuation.

Mental health is definitely important and should always be supported but this is a unique US problem, school shootings and in general, mass shootings. This is a failure of gun access screening problem

The thing our country currently really sucks at addressing:
1) guns - anyone can get. This killer got two assault rifles with ease.
2) social media - lack of monitoring, filtering
3) having more mental health accessibility for students

Hate to say this but at only 5 pages, I can see this thread fizzling out in a matter of days.

It’s sad…

We all kind of move on…

I have two kids in high school…one in college, and my kids are also angry.

But, a week from now, there will be another shooting by another teen with access to guns.

I feel ya. I have one kid who works full time at a grocery store and one that is about to graduate high school . . . it's hard not to feel like they are in high risk environments. They know it too.
