Why are you generalizing? The people who have posted in this thread so far I don't think ever wanted to fire the coach and make this orlando 2.0. Am I missing something? |

I don't have a problem with this. D12 is going to be courted by a number of girls next week. He will be out on many dates in many cities that will wine and dine him. The lakers in this matter have no chance to court Dwight. The season speaks for itself and it could have been much better. A banner on the building is a small reminder of LAL love.

Every thread related to Dwight has a "Jim is a moron who is going to lose Dwight because he won't fire D'Antoni" component, but a simple billboard asking him to stay gets savaged. And yes, there are already people who want MD fired to appease Dwight (meaning you're going to get a coach he wants, meaning he's getting the ball in the post, meaning you're ORL part 2) in this thread.

Probably not.
I can see why people are reacting negatively ... seems a bit beneath how the Lakers normally approach these matters compared to how other franchises deal with this ... don't remember anything like this when Kobe was a UFA.
But, these are different times and the players and the courting of them is different altogether.
So it's best to keep it all in perspective. no need to let the ole sphincter pucker so. |

I have no problem with it. Of course the franchise is better off if he resigns and that banner seems to be exactly the kind of superficial gesture that would appeal to him. That banner is probably great value towards influencing him to do what we want him to do.
