Even if it's facts and eye test?

Imagine thinking Brandon Ingram sucks for the same reasons.

Imagine thinking Brandon Ingram and Max Christie were comparable as rookies.

"Compare" doesn't mean "same". The comparison comes into play with both coming into the league after one year of college, as long, gangly 19 yo's. Both extremely raw, with their defensive production ahead of their offensive production. Both scouted as shooters, but showing as being able to do a bit of everything; ball-handling, passing, rebounding. Of course, B.I. as a rookie was able to do these things to a higher degree than Christie, being a top tier pick. But, during his stint with the Lakers, outside of the occasional flashes, he did not show immediate star talent, that some fans were strangely expecting. This was only exacerbated when Magic came onboard, with eyes set on LeBron.

Point being, more than the actual comparison of their game, the situation revolving around expectations from young players, regarding some of the Lakers fandom, is apt, imo.

Brandon Ingram was selected SECOND OVERALL in the draft.
Max Christie was drafted in the Second ROUND.

Everybody knew Brandon Ingram and knew his great potential out of Duke.
When the Lakers drafted Max Christie 98% of people said "who", and had to look him up.

Nobody was thinking Brandon Ingram belongs in the G League or was destined for the G League.

Max Christie on the other hand...

Call me crazy but I think it can fill that 3&D wing role sooner that most people think. Heโ€™s a smart kid and that shot will start falling. I can see him getting minutes in the second half of the season.

Patently false. Go back and peruse the old threads, regarding Ingram. You had those, like myself, who believed in him, and thought he just needed time. You had a lot of others who thought he was inferior to Kuzma. But, once again, you're stuck on comparing their level of play. If you read my post, I clearly stated that the comparison is in regards to their respective skillset, and unhealthy expectation from fans. NOT the level of said skills (superstar, allstar, roleplayer, etc.).

Try believing in him so much that you had him #1, and had conversations with a guy that warranted it, only for him to work in the NBA now, but the arguments of BI vs Simmons still hold today as to who is the better player.

I always knew Ingram had Tmac potential. He reminded me of Anthony Davis at SF/SG.

Cheistie has 45% of ingrams sauce but thats good enough to be a solid cam johnson type

Christie went three for four from distance in his GLeague game today. Took thirteen shots to score eighteen points. Not NBA competition, but the type of performance that fits perfectly with star players.

Ingram's AD potential also includes the injuries/missed games, but minuses/deducts the defensive impact. I can buy the argument that a healthy Ingram is a star, but you won't get the elite defensive impact. Overall, he was a good draft pick, but I'd trade him for a title 10/10 times.

Im not gonna single out any of the pieces we gave up for AD, but the totality of them was too much. Also im pissed at Magic for gifting Zubac who could have been used, and gifting away all our remaining pieces for a Phantom Kawhi. But the AD trade itself, i think it could have been done without 1 or 2 pick(swap)s. We see this season that just one pick can be a huge difference with us missing out on Wembayana before even entering the race. Same thinh as in 2018 with Doncic, its very annoying

He played well defensively and even hit some threes.

He may have passed G league talent at best status. And thatโ€™s based on eye test and facts!

If this season is not going anywhere (and it looks like it isnโ€™t). He needs to be playing 30 minutes a game. The way he plays defense warrants it. Nobody is knocking down shots so it doesnโ€™t hurt us if his isnโ€™t falling either

Really happy to see the young man getting his time to shine, and show what he can be. Just scratching the surface.
