I hear the Knicks are loaded with 1st round picks.

Really sick of these overpriced garage sales these tanking teams are holding. I'm ready to move on and watch some ball.

Yeah they should just give them away like we do.

Think we are now beyond a team making a deal for a 47mil player. Gotta think it will be a smaller move. If Nunn looks healthy, gotta think Rob would look to move him for wing. Reddish seems to be a target.

I interpreted that as the Spurs want 1 st for Doug/J-Rich and a 2nd pick if Poetl is involved. Not 2 firsts for Poetl himself.

If we can flip McDerrmott for Vanderbilt or another quality piece I would say yes to giving up both of the picks.

Reports were Jazz weren't willing to give up Vanderbilt in a trade for our firsts. But they'd probably jump at the chance to give him up for someone the Spurs are trying to salary dump

2 FRPs for Doug or Vanderbilt center package? Top-29 protected?
Is Vanderbilt or Reddish that much better than say JTA or Max?

The Spurs don't have anyone to salary dump who would be in the same category as Westbrook. I see a few people who are still in denial about this. Sorry, but Westbrook really is that much of a negative.

Despite the weird fascination that people seem to have for Reddish, this would be a downgrade.

Are there folks who really think a healthy AD and Lebron gets us only 41 wins? Or are they questioning that those 2 will be healthy? If the latter, then we stay with those 2 knowing it's a risk and hoping they stay healthy. If it's the former, then the last year has really put a torment on their lives and they're not thinking straight.

I think it would be a shame if we actually get a healthy AD/LBJ season and the Lakers effectively punted on the rest of the lineup and wasted it.

No kidding, that would sucks balls. We finally get those 2 healthy and the rest of the line up is a poo poo platter.

How many games do we win?

When you have as many guards as we do, no way Russ should get 32.5 mpg. We effectively have 6 worthy guards who are really PGs/SGs. That's 7872 minutes total for 6 players (playing Reaves or Lonnie at SF is a disaster and I hope we avoid that).

So saying that Russ takes 2600 out of 7872 available guard minutes (33% of it) is too much.

Yeah. If the Jazz took Scooby Doo and Saben Lee (no draft compensation) for Bogs over Russ/FRP, tells you that Russ's trade value is so underwater beyond comprehension.

Saw a report that we may have offered a 1st, and the hold up was the Jazz not including Vanderbilt and insisting that we take Conley.

That's probably about right.

Crazy how 4 of the 5 are international players, with 4 MVPS between Jokic/Giannis.

Also shows why they haven’t decided whether to fire him or not yet. If it turns into a SA or SH case he’s as good as gone IMO

Zach Harper generously gives the Lakers a C- grade for the offseason:

Quote:
The Lakers were 11-11 in the 22 games LeBron and Davis played together. They went just 22-38 in all those other games.

Re: our guards:

Quote:
Did the Lakers improve here? I honestly have no idea. I would guess, on the surface, that it’s a slight yes, but that’s mostly because of how bad an ineffective this wing corps was a year ago. Malik Monk was the only one (of the guys who left) who had much of an impact. Horton-Tucker had a really down year, so they upgraded short-term by trading for Beverley. I’m higher on Walker than most people are, but you could argue he was the worst signing of teams that used their taxpayer midlevel exception. I like what Brown and Toscano-Anderson could mean for the rotation, but they might not be rotation guys on

Re: our forwards:

Quote:
Did the Lakers improve here? Maybe they’ll still bring back Carmelo Anthony for the rotation, but this team did not get better at the forward spots. James is still playing at an insane level, and maybe Gabriel is in the rotation, but they didn’t do much here.

Re: our bigs:

Quote:
Did the Lakers improve here? Considering the Dwight Howard magic dust was completely gone last season, I do think they improved at the big man position. Bryant was good before he tore his ACL, and getting him on a one-year minimum has the potential to be great value. Jones as an emergency big man isn’t terrible either. Both of those could be quality signings, with Bryant looking to have a real impact on the rotation. But this position still comes down to how healthy Davis is.

Overall:

Quote:
Considering the team checked out on Vogel and he was used as a scapegoat, the hiring of Darvin Ham is also an improvement here. Ham has long been considered one of the next top coaches in the league, and he finally gets his shot. We’ll see how he’s able to ignite their effort on both ends of the floor and what the schemes are, but a lot of people are justifiably excited about Ham taking over the sidelines.

As for the roster itself, the Beverley trade really helps them, unless Horton-Tucker was going to have a bounce-back season and a leap forward. Jovan Buha, Lakers beat writer for The Athletic, wondered earlier this offseason if the closing lineup was going to be LeBron-Davis-Austin Reaves-Brown-Toscano-Anderson. I don’t know what they’d be closing, but that’s how necessary the Beverley move was. I’d feel a lot better about this Lakers season if they moved Westbrook and some picks to Indiana for Myles Turner and Buddy Hield. For now, I don’t think they got better, but maybe they didn’t get worse.
