For the Jazz, Pacers, or Knicks? 😂

Fake news ain’t no one penciled in besides the 3 allstars. Center and The other guard spot will be decided in camp. Fans tried this last season with THT and he no longer with us. His jumper never showed up and Reaves will likely need a consistent jumper to make that happen.

I think the writer made up the "chatter out of the organiztion" part. But that's ok because Reaves does have the intangibles to start. Of course he has to improve his shooting but he long enough, super intelligent, and tough.

He's a consistent jumper a way from shutting up the doubters.

Very likely. Austin is the best option as it stands at the SG position.

I wonder how likely it is Austin becomes an above-average 3-point shooter this season. That's probably what will determine whether he actually starts.

Milwaukee started Donte DiVincenzo, Pat Connaughton and Grayson Allen

Juan Toscano-Anderson also has an opportunity to start.

I think he can become an above average shooter but he won’t be starting until he proves he is

Not a good shooter, not an above average defender, he will fit right in.

I wouldn't mind him being the all around player in the second unit either.

He's an above average shooter.

Big difference when you hit the wall as a rookie and it affects percentages, nevermind defenses defended him differently at the 3-point line after the clutch shot against Dallas.

You’d play him ahead of the two MLEs?

Scotto: I asked one NBA coach about Austin, and he told me, “Austin Reaves is really good and better than I thought. He’s versatile. He’s a good on-ball defender. He makes the right play offensively. He finds ways to impact the game and do the little things to help.”

From everything I’ve gathered, he’d like to stay in LA and get a pay raise, and the Lakers would like to keep him.

Buha: From what I’ve been told, he was penciled in as the starting shooting guard next to Russ. A few weeks ago, I did a story on the Lakers’ projected depth chart and talked to a few people around the organization. I’m going to update that and gather more intel on where Pat slides in. He’s always been a starter. I guess, on paper, now you’re probably starting Pat and Russ. I think it’s a bit of a small backcourt. If Russ is on the opening night roster, he’s most likely starting. I don’t see him going for coming off the bench.

Either way, Austin’s going to have a big role on this team. He’s such a smart player. The one player he’s consistently referenced that he’s modeled his game after is Joe Ingles… He’s someone who’s a Jack of all trades and can do everything at least at a competent level. That’s something that can be hard to find. He’s a guy who doesn’t have an ego and is always looking for the betterment of his team and teammates. He’s a selfless guy. He really is going to be a key for this team. He’s someone I think can be a starter or high-end bench player. I think they really uncovered something with him. He’s similar to an Alex Caruso that they should look to retain moving forward.

Contract $ has nothing to do with talent/skills.

How talented do you think Westbrook is to say, the Top 10 NBA players?

So reaves start over Nunn and Walker?

If he beats them out, absolutely.

Reaves, for me, is the starter IF his shot falls with any degree of consistency. He's got size, defense and bballiq over both of them.

Not above average defender come on sit you have watched the same games I have we know that’s not true

If you’re afraid of a sophomore slump with him because of his draft position I can understand that but there is nothing on the court that we have seen from him that says he can’t defend

He’s a good, average defender. He has a weak base and gets pushed around, strengthening the lower body will help a lot. But last season teams targeted him.

Teams targeted EVERYONE on last year's squad.

I do remember a lot of games where teams unsuccessfully targeted him too. He's a much better defender than people think he is when they look at him. Agree with needing to get stronger but he drew so many charges b/c teams thought they could take advantage of him.

PatBev starts - Reaves back up

Maybe
(Buddy) - Nunn
Bron - JTA
AD - T.Bryant
(Turner) - D.Jones- Theis

That looks pretty good

If no politics were involved, my starting 5:

PG: Bev
SG: Reaves
SF: LBJ
PF: AD
C: Bryant

Spacing, defense, players who hustle and won't need the ball in their hands to be successful.

Walker for sure. Nunn, maybe. Depends who is setting up the offense.

And he still won half the defensive battles when opponents put him on an island, despite that.

That's actually above average, especially for a rookie. Average defenders get continually torched.
